Re: Airbag Failure-Occupant Classification Sensor

Pin 3 is two along from pin 1 Ha! :)

Here's a car EOBD socket so you can see where that is but watch it- the Stilo socket is up the other way with longest side at the bottom. Confused? I should think so.

I doubt if the scanner you have, good at its job though it is, has been designed to pick up the airbag fault codes. Pin 3 isn't usually connected on the usual over the counter scanners as it's a bit specialised. Note that Pin 3 isn't even mentioned on the above schematic

NB Beware that the above drawing can make it look like you can plug a laptop serial port straight into the EOBD socket. You can but it will go phhhffft and your ECU and your laptop will probably go up in smoke.

BE AWARE
You MUST have an interface - the magic little black box- between a laptop and the car EOBD like this set up

Re: Airbag Failure-Occupant Classification Sensor

Cheers, Decks - Is there anyway of getting the ECU to forget about the airbag, so the red light does not come on for a while like a reset, tried disconnecting battery, but the red airbag sign does no want to disappear, im going crazy!:bang::bang::bang::bang:

Re: Airbag Failure-Occupant Classification Sensor

That's the best answer by miles

Have you treated all the orange airbag connectors, one under each front seat, above the rear wheel arch and behind the passenger glove box , and if you have them, side air bags plus the rear ones if you have rear seat air bags

Re: Airbag Failure-Occupant Classification Sensor

I had this problem, tried cleaning the connections but no result. I remebered there was a post stating that the Stilo requires a fully charge battery so I had mine checked and replaced, result - no more airbag warning light.

Re: Airbag Failure-Occupant Classification Sensor

Is there anything wrong with cutting off the original underseat connector and replacing it with a different solder on type after cleaning up the wire end connectors first? I am not saying take away the connector and solder the wires, just removing the original connector block and soldering a new on in.

P.S. dont flame me, I have read the helpful Stuff posted in the Forum on this subject. :)

Re: Airbag Failure-Occupant Classification Sensor

Hi,

I have just been told I need a new OCS replacement mat

Prices have gone up from £100 to over £200 for a brand new one for leather interior...

Can i purchase one for a cloth interior and fit it to my leather interior - why is there a different one for leather?!

Is this a part I could get from a breaker?

I can't seem to find the fiat stilo version of the emulator on airbag 24 - where can i get this?!

Thanks,

Rob

As OCS creasing up seems to be the biggest error producing problem you could try removing it, flatten it out, carefully stick on a large sheet of sticky plastic to the underneath to reinforce it and avoid further creasing. Plug it in and try it before reinstalling it.
Probably need 3 clear starts before accepting it

I wouldnt recommend it, but rather than an emulator I have seen people connecting various resistors to the mat which simulates an occupant with success.

Not hard to do at all, but obviously at your own risk. But its a damn sight cheaper than an emulator and you can turn the passenger airbag off with the switch like normal..

Hi Decks,

Thanks - unfortunately I have tried all of that, but to no avail (

I'm still confused on why the sensor is different for cars with leather seats though!!!

I'd also rather pay £50 for an emulator and know it works than screw it up myself!

Thanks

It can't be that difficult to buy one that's not specific, prise it off and then re-lay it can it!?
