General New Member - Break problem stumped garage

Hi All
I have a w reg multipla that is in the garage having a new clutch fitted and brakes looked at. The problem with brakes is that sometimes when you go to brake the pedal goes solid and you can not push it therefore you have no brakes. The mechanic has driven the car and said it feels like ABS problem although no light on dash and a diagnostic check has shown nothing. He has stripped all the wheels, checked servos ? discs, pads etc all showing no problems so now he is stumped as to problem. He is going to call fiat today to see if they can help but i thought i would come ask if anyone has had anything similar happen and maybe any suggestions for me to put to him to check

your losing servo brake assist, sounds like a vaccum leak to me, check rubber tubing going from end of cam to servo unit
