You don't have enough money to go the turbo route either, only just read the older post!
The only turbos worth having are on diesels. They breath air only and the more you can stuff in the better. Petrol turbos are a serious PIA. Don't bother.
For N/A engines you are better off fitting a bigger one**. To see how hard that is look at the 20V Punto posts.
If you must have serious performance go and get yourself a bike licence. Even a 35bhp restricted bike will give most cars a run at the lights. Today's 600s make well over 100bhp but weigh 180 kilos or less.
That's at least 555bhp per ton.
To survive you have to be a good driver so your car skills also improve.
** turbos effectively increase an engine's pumping capacity much the same as a bigger engine does. By the time you have all the plumbing and radiators etc the bigger capacity engine is no heavier than the turbo'd engine.
