Hello everyone,
I’m having an issue with my Fiat Punto Classic and I was hoping to get some advice.

The problem:
1. When I open the driver, passenger, or rear passenger door, the dome light does not turn on.
2. When I open the rear driver’s side door, the dome light works normally.
3. The dashboard warning light only shows a door is open when the rear driver’s side door is opened.
4. For the other 3 doors, the dash does not register that they are open.

Other details:
-
Sprayed lubrication into the door hinge, door lock, and the mechanism inside the doors and still no change.
- The central locking system works fine.
- The car’s wiring and central locking system have not been modified.
- Because all 3 other doors fail to register as open, I don’t think it’s a simple wiring issue.
- The dome light does turn on when the car is unlocked also turns on when the boot/trunk is opened.
- Around 160500km on the odometer.

Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be an issue with the door switches or something else?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
It turns out the problem wasn’t wiring or the dome light itself, but the door handle/lock mechanism. I just had to jiggle the door handle a couple of times, which freed up some gunk and dust inside the mechanism. After doing this, the dome light and dashboard indicator started working normally again on all doors.

Hopefully this helps anyone else who runs into the same issue!
