Cinquecento My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting.

Introduction

Hi well, i only joined the forum just a few day ago because i purchased this little 1998 cinqu 1.1 sporting as my little project just purely as a runaround:Djust so i do not have to drive my 2.0 16v Espace about,

I am not quite sure what iam going to be doing to it its far from being a perfict cinqu and with lots of tlc i hope in time it will be,

Well it has a years ticket on it and i have it garaged and hope to get stuck in about it in the next few weeks with a good check over mechanically then a clean top to bottom and then one of my first jobs after this is to replace the Rocker cover Gasket as it running a little at the front and then and only then will i start to sex it up a little:eek:

Cheers Scuderia

p.s Anyone now if this Blue Metallic paint colour has a name???
Oh I like them too, now I've seen them fitted :)

Not sure how long the stickers are going to last though, being stuck to a rough matte surface? As they would have less contact.

They should be ok?,i gave the surfaces a good clean using methylated spirit then heated the area up first with a heatgun to give them a fighting chance when i stuck them in place!,the surface is quite smooth even though they are listed as textured bumpers,if they do fall off ?,so be it:D,

Cheers Scuderia

I still prefur to colour coded bumpers.....but hey, your car, your decision(y)

No one liked my project plans but i stuck to it and its slowly coming together.... 2pots on the rear and 40mm throttle bodies:nutter: and even 15" wheels that are going to wreck the handling:spin:

Nobody likes my car or plans full stop, but I couldn't really care if it's what I want to do and like .

Meh, I like everyones projects I just wish they'd stop faffing about and get on with them like Scuderia. :p :D

So do i:D,but these to me look rough and ready....if you get my drift?,and are in keeping with the Cinquecento, that already oozes the rough and ready look in bucket loads compared to the Seicento's, hence why i done it to aid the rally look!,

Got to admit those bumpers do give it some wolf in sheeps clothing appeal though :D.

Thought anymore on an engine upgrade?

Thanks

Hi All,

Well i smart repaired all the chips and scratches today with what little Imola Blue i had left over in the spray tin that i had made up earlier in the year, which has took me most of the day between using wet & drying de-greasing & even priming followed by a coat of Imola Blue, i have to say its looking good!, just need to buff and polish what Ive done after a few days have passed to let the paint cure a little,

That small dent on the drivers quarter panel is still there, but that's in the pipe line to be repaired at my local workshop in the Autumn as a homer job on the side for some beer tokens,

What Ive done is bin my To-Do-List:eek:, and redo it:bang:.....i wish i hadn't lol, more on that as the Weeks and Months go on:),

SPOT THE 1108CC ROCKETDOG:D

I'll be there again this year:cool:,can't wait!,

Ha my project is a last resort for me. In no rush to finish it. At the moment when I'm not at work I'll either be windsurfing or cycling. I try and spend as much time outside as possible whilst we have some daylight.

I've given up on British/Channel Island weather (although it's really nice today), I'll just go on holiday some where nice and hot once my project is close to finished. LOL
I'm looking forward to getting to the point Scuderia's at, the bulk of the work is finished and you can just add cool little bits and pieces while actually enjoying the car. The all day Sturday to Sunday morning spanner sessions are really killing me. :)

Go after market!!!!!

Am sure the MPI fan from the sei has a different housing.

If you want a new fan, you can get one from the polish site for not much money well am sure CC1 has a few of them

Ming

Cheers Ming......My fan is still good, i just fancied that new look plastic bracket that its mounted on,I'll take a look about,

Cheers Scuderia

to be fair, i think Ming is onto something here, 2 slim aftermarket fans is the way forward having had my car running with the bumper off recently, the fan cools down part of the radiator really well but the plastic cowling doesn't seem to spread the flow of air across the entiire radiator at all. I'm going to fit 2 side by side when i redo my engine which i think is the setup Ming has (y)

This is a bit swings and roundabouts to be honest. Once the car is on the move airflow through the rad is better than pretty much any of these fans could ever produce. The downside of fitting 2 fans is they will actually restrict the airflow slightly when they're not running. The fans only work in certain circumstances, i.e. those of no or little airflow. I think Ming has an Auto test car, this means he more than likely benefits from this set up, as you might too if you'd just been hammering your turbocharged car and suddenly got stuck in traffic. However for the majority of chaps this won't actually help and may even do a little harm. Also there is the need to make up brackets or use the horrible zip tie mounting system. For the extra hassle I wouldn't go this route unless it was totally necessary and my car was overheating in low air flow situations. Does look cool though... :D

Hi All,

Argh........Bloody starter motor packed in today lol, went down to the car and pressed the started button...... to get nothing apart from tick tick tick,it is the starter and not the battery as my voltage gauge is reading 12volts so i ordered another new starter today, just have to find the time to remove the other so i can get my surcharge back on it,

Cheers Scuderia

Hi All,

Well after much waiting about the new starter motor arrived, so its now fitted and cranking away:),

Thats me more or less now ready the Scottish Italian Car & Bike Show at Hopetoun House on the 12th August:cool:,

Cheers Scuderia
