Cinquecento My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting.

Introduction

Hi well, i only joined the forum just a few day ago because i purchased this little 1998 cinqu 1.1 sporting as my little project just purely as a runaround:Djust so i do not have to drive my 2.0 16v Espace about,

I am not quite sure what iam going to be doing to it its far from being a perfict cinqu and with lots of tlc i hope in time it will be,

Well it has a years ticket on it and i have it garaged and hope to get stuck in about it in the next few weeks with a good check over mechanically then a clean top to bottom and then one of my first jobs after this is to replace the Rocker cover Gasket as it running a little at the front and then and only then will i start to sex it up a little:eek:

Cheers Scuderia

p.s Anyone now if this Blue Metallic paint colour has a name???
Theirs always something that plays up Don :( but at least you've sorted it now and i was wondering if you'd thought of putting another air intake either at the front of the car but not sure where or on the bonnet as it would bring more air into the engine bay so in theory the engine would take longer to get hot or so the theory goes lol .

only if there is somewhere for said air to go, rear facing louvres or vents would probably be much more effective at letting the heat out rather than trying to get cold in...

In my old cinq turbo Don, if i took the rubber that seals the bonnet to the scuttle panel out on sunny days it ran a good 5-10*C lower. Sure my sei si the same but not wired up the temp gauge yet.. Might be worth having that bit out when you go on track ;)

Hi Pal,

I did at one stage think about having some form of heat extraction vent at the back of the bonnet to vent the hot air but thought no more about it.....:),

lmfao........NahYuk(n),

Like i and Blu have said, heat extreaction is the better way to go,the thing about it is when this car was stock there was no where for the heat to go, but since the back of the bulk head sound deadening has been removed between the engine and the heater system the heat is now free to escape through the front vents below the windscreen where as before it couldn't:),i think that's more then enough for 1108 Rocket Dog:D,it already runs quite cool to be honest although when its out on the track it does get warmer but because the thermostat was changed using 82 degree stat that has helped big time,

It's good to see you getting on good with the Cinq, same colour and model as mine

Hi All,

Well i had the car out at yesterday at the Scottish Italian Car & Bike Show at Hopetoun House, which iam pleased to say was a good day,the winning car was Ferrari Daytona:cool: and the bike was MV Agusta F4:cool:,

Well its that time of the year again for the Cento to be garaged:(,it still has 4 Months tax on it but that can be surrendered, now there is a track night this Friday with the AROC at Knockhill but iam not sure i can make it yet...Argh,ive not had this car out on the track this year yet....Oops, so it would be good to get out on the track for a blast eh!,we'll see what the Boss says later today:D,

So its now time to get the little car back up on its axle stands and start getting some more jobs done:).... between now and next Spring,

Whats next i here you ask?......that would be telling....lmfao,

I'll post up some pic's of yesterdays show later today all going well, when iam back on my laptop, and i get them uploaded to my gallery,

All the best Scuderia

Like i said, nothing special, but something that ive been keen to do for some time, keeping up with the rally look, taking the inspiration from other rally cars i thought it was about time i got the spare wheel back in the car, if i ever did have a puncture i would be in trouble without one eh:(,not that it will be kept in the car when out on the track, but its there for me if i need it traveling to events or meets, just in case,

So what ive done is use the space saver that came with the car, after preping it i gave it a freshen up using some primer & white paint to match the other stock alloys that are already powder coated white,

Now with me having the foam filled fuel tank in the spare wheel bay, i opted to buy an alloy rally spare wheel post from my local rally supplier to mount it and keep help keep the spare wheel in place,

So i had to find a place where i could mount it:(?,so i opted to place it below,to be honest there wasn't anywhere else lol, what its not doing is fouling any of the fuel lines or brake lines even the fuel pumps tank or swirl pot, but i have had to make an alloy mounting bracket to help raise it a little so it didn't foul the seat harnesses,

Below you will see the mounting plate i have to bent into shape using some 3mm checkered plate so it left enough room so the wheel didn't foul the seat harnesses, you will also see below where i had to mount the post itself and also pop rivit some checkered alloy plate to the red brace where the wheel will be seated,

I have also bolted 2 more harness lugs to either side of the post to use in conjuction with the below strap to help keep the wheel in place,

You will also see that the wheel is bolted in place like below,

The spare wheel is no good without a jack eh,so its now bolted in the place between the fuel tank and the rear hatch,

Finished

I have bought more bits and pieces :D,but ive yet to get time to do anymore work to it(n), but i'll will update the thread when i can, as always:),

Cheers Don

Hi Guys & Girls:),

Well this will be my last update till next Spring:(, as the weather up here in Scotland is on the change(n)........and iam not lying about a cold damp garage over the Winter Months, apart from that iam way to busy:rolleyes:,i will keep buying parts that's on my wish list when i can?, but there will be no work done on the car till next Spring,

Last Update of 2012

Right where do i start?:D,at the beginning would be good eh:rolleyes:,

So i bought myself a set of Ring fog lights:D,yeah yeah i now light overdose!, they where reduced at my local Halfords so i thought I'll have them:cool:,and i thought they would work well with my Ring Rally Giants spot lights that are already fitted,

So as much as i had my other Rally Giant spot lights fitted i thought it was good idea to bring all the relays & fuses even switches all together in the one place, so i bought some bits and pieces to get the job done,

So after fitting the new fog lights and running the 25amp wires throw the bulkhead to the dashboard, i made a start to an alloy panel to mount it all on,

2mm Alloy

Durite Fuse Holders For The Light Switches & Lights

15Metres 25amp Euro Twin Core Wire

LED Light Up Fuses.......When Blown!,

Since buying those above fuses i have since bought more:),so every fuse in the car is now LED Light Up,

4 x 25amp LED On/Off Toggle Switches

P/Clips For Securing Twin Core Wire

Switch Panel Fabrication

12v Socket

Twin 12v USB Socket

USB Map Light

You will see that each pair of lights now have there own 30amp relay and are protected by a 25amp LED fuse, and each switch is also LED fuse protected,

Panel Fitted & Wired

Light Switch Test

LED Toggle Light Switches

Ring Fog Lamps Fitted

BRIGHT LIGHT!

I have since done away with my rear wiper and motor along with the wiper washer bottle as both motors were goosed,

So i bought a new universal 1.2l wiper bottle and pump kit and have since wired it all up and fitted some new hose pipe, the switch is now on the lighting panel as the 4th switch,

The old system is now removed and new kit fitted to inside the rear of the car away from the elements, so it might now last a little longer?,

New Look FiatScotland Stickers..........not yet fitted:D,that's not like me......lol,

But i did fit the another set i bought at Hopetoun House, until i have time to fit the others:D.......or find some space:rolleyes:,

I also bought some 3mm alloy tread plate on the cheap....don't ask:D, to replace the alloy Mini Cooper sump guard i fitted a while ago,i had to change it as it was sitting far to low!,i have since gave it away to young lad building a Mini auto test car,

What i have been able to do is use all the brackets i made up when fitting the old sump guard to work with the new guard(y),which is now sitting much much higher that the old guard,

New adjustable long alloy hydraulic handbrake lever....much easier now to pull on:cool:,

Working Hard As Always:D.......Out with the old........in with the new,

Well....i think that just about covers it until the next time,it has since been locked up covered over and the door pulled down and bolted till next Spring, that said, i will be down to turn it over every so often but that's it from me,

Over & Out,

All the best Scuderia

Hi All,

Well the time has come for me to move on:D,yes you guessed it,the Fiat is going up for sale:eek:, i should get it listed in the coming weeks?,where?, iam not sure yet,

They do say all good things come to an end though eh:),to be honest i could keep going and keep working on it.......even improve on it in places, but ive lost the heart, apart from that ive spent £8k+ on it over the 4 years with documented proof and receipts, so enough is enough,

Iam no way expecting that type of cash in return but seeing as its a very good example and still road legal MOT'ed and taxed with 82k on the clock,it can be used for some weekend track days even used at most car events even concourse events, which it dosent look out of place at,this should give the car half a fighting chance to be sold to the right person, there is even a spare 1108cc engine and spare new unused R888 tyres and new and used spares which can only help,

Iam in no rush for a sale as its dry garaged so time is on my side so to speak,

Just thought i would let you all know, please don't flood this thread with offers of interest,if you are interested please PM me:),

Cheers Don
