Cinquecento My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting.

Introduction

Hi well, i only joined the forum just a few day ago because i purchased this little 1998 cinqu 1.1 sporting as my little project just purely as a runaround:Djust so i do not have to drive my 2.0 16v Espace about,

I am not quite sure what iam going to be doing to it its far from being a perfict cinqu and with lots of tlc i hope in time it will be,

Well it has a years ticket on it and i have it garaged and hope to get stuck in about it in the next few weeks with a good check over mechanically then a clean top to bottom and then one of my first jobs after this is to replace the Rocker cover Gasket as it running a little at the front and then and only then will i start to sex it up a little:eek:

Cheers Scuderia

p.s Anyone now if this Blue Metallic paint colour has a name???
in all honesty i'm with you and think un-coded bumpers are the mutts like.

Well as you know iam with you on this.......ive got a pretty good eye for things like this if you get my drift and iam sure they do look better but whether thats down to the colour of the car or not iam not sure, what i know for sure is iam going to give it a go,when?, iam not sure, but at £80 for 2 new bumpers delivered, hell yeh its gota be worth a dry eh,

Cheers Don

Another thing that's high on the wish list is a set of White Compomotive wheels and new tyres but again were talking another big price tag so again i would need to save for them,

These haven't been going anywhere quick :p
Could turn out cheap, depends how much for refurb, repair, boring and tyres on top.
And if you're willing to 'risk' 6.5 wide on a Cinq ;)

Ah, I thought you were going for bigger tyres too, just trying to save a bit of weight?

iirc stock Cinq Sporting alloys are 7.2Kg each without tyres.

To be honest weight isn't really on my agenda Dan...its all about looks:D,iam keen to keep running my 13" so i can keep running her on R888 185/60/13 medium compound, great all round tyre,

Cheers Don

black bumpers are cool (y)

my next cinq is gonna have black bumpers, when i get round to buying another cinq one day.

Black it is then:D, Black is the new Blue in my world:D,

Does anyone know if these bumpers on eBay come with the moulded mounting points?,i ask as iam not keen to buy them then start using fibreglass to get them mounted,

Can anyone confirm what these look like fitted?,iam asking as iam sure they will look great along with the black plastic bumpers?yeah nah?,

just get some rough ones from a scrappy and have a go before buying nice ones.. You could try just flaring the arches, i had a quick go once on a scrap shell and don't think it would too hard to get it looking good. I banged the lip of the arch up and then hammered the angle out of the arch. Hope that makes sense to you.

ah found a few pics, bear in mind i did this in 5 mins just to see if it would work..

Im going to voice my opinion if thats ok, i dont like the black bumpers, a prefur colour coded.

Love the wheels, but again i prefur the the Comp CRX style.

Do you have any pics of the arches fitted to a cinq?

Thats not a problem Brooky, its everyone to there own eh:),i never did like the colour coded bumpers on the Cento.....yuk, but at £70 if i don't like the look of the black on mine its just a case of switching back over but after seeing that other car amongst others they do look much better,

No, ive not seen any images as yet with a Cento using this arch kit, but iam sure there are some out there?,i used to like the old black plastic flared arches on the mini that just screw on....rough and ready look, but looking at them there a bit to wide for what iam looking to do as iam keen to keep running the car on my stock wheel size using 185/60/13" tyres as they work well on the track and on our rough roads, iam just looking for a suttle black arch,i guess what i could do is buy that kit above and have them painted imola blue?, but thats not the look i was looking for, like i said its no biggy about not getting the arches, its the black bumpers that are high on the list of things to do next then some smart repairs on chips and scratches,

Like i asked lastnight, do you guys think those bumpers in that above eBay link will come with the hanging mounts already moulded in place?,don't want to have to start p1ssing about with fibreglass!,

Yeah i already did this morning just waiting on a reply,it was just on the off chance someone had already ordered a replacment from them before:), i sure they do though?,there can be lots of aftermarket bumpers out there that don't thats why i ask,

Cheers Don

Update,

Well the seller has confirmed that these bumpers on eBay are ready to fit straight on...Happy days, iam not expecting them to be of good quality but i can't exactly say the stock bumbers are any better:rolleyes:,so i hope to order then asap,

I had the car out on a good run yesterday 1st July at the Fiat Scotland Meet in Stirling and iam pleased to say it never let me down:cool:,one of the joints on the exhaust is still venting a little as fumes are getting into the car...on idle only, so i think what i'll do between now and the Scottish Italian car & bike show in August is get that joint welded up but leave the other joint so the exhaust can still be split if needs must at that section,

Not a big turn out only 5 cars, the new Punto Sporting, Mk II Facelift Punto, Martyns Mk II Punto?, and Donna's MR2 and lets not forget my Cento,

Iam also pleased to say which ive already done:rolleyes:, that the new secondary low pressure fuel pump and fuel swirl pot is doing its job.......100% sucsess(y),

Here are some pic's of yesterdays outing with FS,

All the best Scuderia

Hi,

Right iam going to give the car a wash today if i get time this afternoon or even this evening as on the way home from Sundays Meet the heavens opened up:rolleyes:....and it got all dirty:cry::D,

Then i can give all the chips and small scratches a degrease and smart repair them all using another tin of Imola Blue that i bought when doing my wheel arches a few Months back, theres not much that lets this car down apart from body work scratches and chips and ive been leaving it off so now is the time to get all done, i'll get them all degreased and filled if needed? primed and sprayed in followed by a good buff up later this week,

To be honest there's only about a days work if that apart from one dent on the rear quarter panel:(, right on the crease of the boot lid that iam not sure i could do using a spray tin so i'll leave that till another time:rolleyes:,it can't pulled out or even hit from inside the car as you can't get access to it so i might give this to my local bodywork shop?,i'd rather not but needs must eh,

I'll show you an image of it laters and see what you lot think but until then......laters:),

Cheers Don

OK,

That's a new set of bog standard Black plastic bumpers ordered so they should be with me on Thursday?,then its just a case of switching all the Orange trims over from Imola bumpers along with my rally giant spots lights, number plates and rear number plate lights,so fingers crossed i can achieve the look Ive seen on others?,i will have to cut some of the blanking slats out on the passenger side front bumper to let cool air into the oil cooler like i did with the other but other than that....that's about it,

I had to pay £80 for both front and rear bumpers in the end,but if you remove the postage they would have cost me £60 which to be honest ain't bad for the pair eh,i did go to some of my local breakers but all that i seen didn't look to be in good condition at all:(,

That's about all Ive had time for today but i should get back at it again over the weekend all going well and get the body work tidied up,the oh has banned me from spending anymore:eek:,that's going to be hard one to get round that,i really can't complain though to be honest:eek:,

Cheers Scuderia

This is the dent in question.....it's not bad but i need it repaired, iam sure its a fill job isn't it?,iam no bodywork man but its past me i think,i could probely do it but I'd rather not but if push come to shove i will,it can't be pulled or can it?,i don't think so,you also can't get to it from the inside of the car as you can't get access to it so i might give this to my local bodywork shop?,I'd rather not but needs must eh,

Cheers Scuderia
