General MP3 Player won't work - any ideas, plse?

I plug my MP3 player in via the USB port and it usually gets recognised and commences operation - recently, however, the player itself lights up when plugged in but nothing happens at the radio and flicking thru the search on either radio or column stalk doesn't 'find' the MP3 player.

I have tried 3 different MP3 players, none work - I have also cleaned down the USB port, in case of fluff or whatever, but no change.

(The radio & CD sections both work fine, btw)

Any ideas on how to fix, please?

Is this blue and me or the newer uconnect thingy?

Either way I'd start be disconnecting the battery for 10 mins to reset everything

Try another cable - could be a bad plug and some cables are charge only.

Thanks for responses - I've tried different cables linking MP3 player/USB port, so maybe that idea of a battery disconnect is a way to go - will report back!

No, the idea of a battery dis-connect didn't do any good, unfortunately.

Any further thoughts out there, please?
