Hi, please help...
Past two days I've been franticly trying to get my near side indicator working.
Carioca 656 2005 2.3jtd

MOT at 10 am in the morning
The right indicator works perfect but the left doesn't even register on the dashboard.
Only one fuse for both indicators so the fuse is fine. Checked and cleaned connectors, checked bulbs and replaced regardless.
Hazard lights on, right indicator is fine and registering on dashboard, but left indicator, front, side and rear and dashboard are dead

Please, if anyone can help I'm quite desperate....

II would be looking towards the flasher unit itself, sounds like it might have developed a fault, try replacing it.
Are you sure that theres only one fuse for both sides, seems unusual ?

Phoned fiat and they said the relay is for both L & R indicators and hazards. Relay not faulty because it clicks for Right side. F53 fuse for both indicators and hazards.
I'm lost....

It could be the relay, relay can energize and click over several circuits at once, one can fail independently. Worth putting the flashers on and using a multimeter to sense which wires pulse 12v with the relay. The working side circuit will, the other side might not.

1 final go tonight with the multimeter, if I get no joy it's back to the garage!
Just hope I make it to Belgium for Thursday.

Hi, where would I find the body computer?

Yours doesn't really have one there are several units.

F010 F020 F030 are the left bulbs, H090 is the control unit which is just behind the hazard/fog etc switches. The switches, leds, relays are part of this controller, you need to take out the stupid document holder and radio to access it. If you're lucky it might just be a case of contact cleaner and reseating the connections. Check for dry joint, relay continuity. Secondhand unit should be plug and play if you rule out earth/wiring issues.

It won't have a traditional flasher relay if it's got a body computer normally.

So is the vehicle as a whole not canbus controlled then

Theres a separate unit for windows & central locking, a separate unit for immobiliser, a seperate unit for lights, timers etc.

There are piddly little mcu controlled pcb mounted relays in the h090 unit could easily be a relay fault.

Its definitely worth checking the c081 rear left cluster earth, and checking the rear cluster connector for corrosion. I had funky things going on with fogs and hazards due to rear left earth connector on the lighting unit being rusty.

Cleaned earth points, but back cluster shares earth with side lights and the side lights work fine.
Can't locate where I can swap looms . I think swapping looms would narrow it down to the relay, but the guy at fiat did say that the relay was shared by both indicators

Take out the document holder and radio and check if you have 12v on the pink and black wires pin 2, 19 nd 20 of the b connectors when the hazard switch is pressed.

I get no reading from those points when the hazard light is switched on.

Could it be the indicator unit on the steering rack?

As its alternating on and off you wont get a steady reading. Just to be sure you're connecting up right whast asre yuou using as earth? do you get voltage on the light blue and black wires if so the fault is inside the unit you can remove the plastic casing and check for bad solder then chase the pink white wires to the relay and check that the coil is being switched on and off.

I get no reading on pink & white but unsteady light blue, blue & black.
Can see any dry joints on the board.
