Hi and thanks for the welcome to the forum.
I have a recently bought 2010 mk2 Panda on which the front screen washers do not work. I can make them work just once by blowing back down the screen washer pipe, then refitting it and operating the washers. They then work until I release the switch. Won’t work a second time. There’s only one pump, with a double output valve attached. I can only assume that the pump polarity is changed when swapping between front and rear washers, so the fault must lie within the attached valve. It looks as though I can dismantle the valve, if I’m careful. Is this a common problem on these cars?

Hi 🙂

Are you saying there is no fluid.. But the pump run..

Or the pump only runs once 🤔

Does it actually pump fluid to the rear repeatable..?

Thanks for your reply. The pump runs but only delivers water to the rear screen. Even when front screen wash is operated it still delivers water to the rear screen only. This is why I feel that the valve is sticking in the rear screen feed position.

There's no valve

A paddle sits in the flow

Turns one way to move the water to the rear
Turns the other to move the water to the front

It's pretty basic, if you can hear it spinning, the controls must be fine

Does water come out of the hose if you leave it disconnected from the jets

Yes, the motor spins. I’ve removed both hoses from the ‘paddle’ housing and water exits each way, depending on which wash is selected. I’ll have a close look at it tomorrow evening but am I right in thinking that the orientation of the paddle is dictated by the direction in which the motor turns? This must be the case as there’s no electrical connection to the paddle housing.

Motor spins clockwise or anticlockwise depending on the polarity supplied to the motors two terminals

You can also swap the two pipes over

When you put the front washer on the rears will squirt instead

If the rear still works and front still fails you will know 100% it a blockage in the front pipes

Thanks koalar. I’ll check it over when it stops raining.
