Hi all, 1.9 multijet 2008.
Today when I went to start the car, after it had been run and reached running temp already then cooled down, on turning the key "maximum temp" warning appeared and temp gauge went to maximum and car wouldn't start. This happens so fast if you blink you'll miss it. it's done this a couple of times before but there's no regularity. It always starts fine straight away after. Could be intermittent fault on thermostat sensor, I can't find any info on this anywhere.
Does anybody have any idea what this could be?
Many thanks

Interesting thread on electrical issues.
My fuse box cover is missing so first thing I'll look at getting one.

Same thing happened again today after car had been parked all day at work. Very damp and wet weather now so I should get that fuse box cover.
Is it ok to spray a bit of WD40 straight onto the fuses to displace any moisture?

I had a part from a CItroen a few years ago. It was a window regulator with one touch up and down. Our electricians at work just spayed everything with WD40 and then cleaned it carefully and dried it for 24 hours. It worked perfectly for many years! Go for it. Its what WD40 is all about.
