tesco wrexham have had them for about 2 months, they slow and a pain in the arse to use. It doesnt speed your 'shopping experience' up and most poeple now avoid them like the plague

Marks and Spencer ones have to be the worst!! they must have a sensor underneath where you pack your shopping into a bag, and if the sensor doesnt pick up the item being placed in the bag it tells you to scan it again-and again-and again!! (ya kinda get the picture!)
SOOO slow and a total pain in the ass, id rather queue up at the ordinary tills every week!!

Isn't it great to see more technology putting people out of jobs... B*stards.
Yeah - damn industrail revolution starting the greatest advancement in the histroy of the world. How dare people even consider inventing things that make our world run smoother if it makes dull, low-skilled jobs redundant at the expense of speed and ease.

Sod the internet, bring back the days of telegrams - and telegram operators!

As for these "kettles" - what was wrong with some old woman sitting next to a fire with a pot? Got the job done just as well AND employed someone.

Sainsburys next door to me has had them for a year now... They're easy to scam! Not that I'd encourace that of course!

Good reply! :)

I'm not against the advancement of technology, but it never fails to irritate me when I see some bloody pointless machine replacing a job once filled by a person. This is a pointless machine if ever I seen one...

the machine has a sexy voice though :p

i really hate it too, i have to use it on a weekly basis when im working, i always go to a manned till, you cant talk to a machine

I'd never seen or heard of these before i just read this thread

We dont have them anywhere around us :)

If people don't want to queue why don't they just do their shopping on the net.

I have no problem with machines replacing jobs, because if the planet survives long enough there should be no need for people to work other than on R&D (including design), certain maintenance tasks and probably Politics, because someone will always want to control everything.

Of course the chances of the planet lasting that long is quite slim unless something wipes out 95% of the worlds population some time soon, whilst leaving all the technology and the people with the know how to develop it further intact.

Exactly - have tried it in the past and have found it very expensive as the places I shop don't do it, problems with fruit and veg and substitutions and I didn't get the same browsing experience, it was too much hassle. Handy if you buy the same stuff every week but I like to experiment :). Plus as Dave says, no cheap cream cakes!
