right,
just recoved the new piston....but the top of its different to the old one!
the ne wone jhas a dish cut in to it and the old 1 has valave seats cut in to it?

wtf?

it says on ebay came out of a 1.2 8v mk2 says will fot 1999-2005.

mines an 8v 2002 model? 1.2.

unless its for the 16v maby?

Not sure about this but I read somewhere that MPI and SPI 8V engines have different compression rations. Is possible to change the compression ratio by altering the way the pistons are cut. Your old one could be from an MPI while the new one is from an SPI. My one (SPI) as far I remember when I did my head gasket was dished, don't remember seeing any valve cuts in it.

A full set would most likely have been no problem. Cant you get the other three?

nope, bloke is a braker, was going to buy them all but 2 were damaged by big bits of cars braking them LOL.

what should i do then

Send/take it back and get a set from elsewhere. Even better cut the losses and replace the engine complete with ECU, BCU, Immob and keys.
To be honest, single pistons rarely just fail without a good reason so what else is wrong with the damaged engine?

it faild on that side because thats the side the head went on.

coul i not re-sape the piston lol.

Sounds like its overheated & partially seized. Its a scrap piston because it will now never cope with normal working stresses. The others will have also been overstressed so cant be trusted.

If it was mine with so many used engines about I would simply drop in a new lump.

Post a question to make sure you choose one that will work with your ECU etc.
