Technical Knocking from rear but not shocks

I have a 2008 Sport. I'm getting a knocking when travelling over bumps, normal driving seems fine.

I have checked the shocks and there appears to be no movement in them. Exhaust was checked and that also appears fine. The sound isn't metallic but something sounds loose. Checked spare tyre, that's right.

Any help would be great

Our bump stops have snapped off and are rattling around inside the coil spring(s), I have new ones but not fitted yet and rattle.

I saw a top tip for diagnosing suspension rattles the other day (car wizard on YouTube).

He suggests holding a door fully open and use that as a lever to rock the car up and down.

If you get the noise you can get someone to do the rocking as you look under the car to find its source.

How do you remove those? Do they have a bolt or do they just pull off?

They push fit into a hole, over the years they've got brittle and just snapped off new ones are a tenner and much softer

Have done this repair myself. Access is tight, but ended up having to fettle the new bump stops a little to get them to fit. Use a little grease to lube them in.

I don't know how you are checking the rear shocks, but the inner metal ring of the bush can rattle on the bolts on aftermarket shocks.
Sounds like a knocking coming from the boot
