Hi All
Does the car run normally once warm?
If so I still go with my original theory of one or more glow plugs not working properly (most likely), sticking valve or injector problem.
I understand the theory of the head gasket but personally I would leave that as a last resort as you have no other symptoms, water in the oil pressurising of top hose, loss of coolant.
If it were blowing into the oil way you should be getting a lot of pressure in the sump this would result in oil leaks from the front and rear crank oil seals and probably just about everywhere else the oil could force itself out.
Let’s not forget diesels have a very high compression ratio so if it’s sucking in on one of the cylinders it will certainly be pushing out the same way causing pressure.
Try taking the oil filler cap off put your hand above can you feel excessive pressure blowing out?(this is also a good test for worn/broken piston rings).
You might get a friend’s car and do the same this will give you an idea of what it should feel like; you will always get a slight blow from the oil filler but not much.
I think the big clue is the fact that it runs normally once warm. White smoke, poor acceleration, engine vibrating, O.K when warmed up all classic symptoms of pre heat failure.
