I keep forgetting to read this thread!

sorry you can't make it Heidi, was looking forward to seeing your 'little pearl'.

Grim, let me know when you plan to visit the Swan again, we'd love to meet up again with you all.

Tim, the ending sounds very exciting, hope we can navigate our way to it :D

Booklady, I will certainly let you know, in fact as you arranged the last one so well I was going to ask you to liaise with the Swan on our behalf once I gather all the relevant info. I shall wait until early March and then post a couple of dates.

When I hear which date is the most popular then I will put it in the event section. This time, as the days will be longer we might get the chance to get photos done in the forest this time.

Hope Lloyd can make it as he made a first class job of the last photos. (y)

Good News for the folk that are coming to the Island, the Isle of Wight Council have decided to encourage folk to go "GREEN"..... One of there decisions was to grant free parking in all their "Off Street" Pay and Display Car Parks, this applies to all cars that have a low emmission of 120 g/km and below, they have 59 car parks around the Island, there is a notice making reference to this on the Tariff board at each car park that it applies too, so it always pays to check before walking away from your car without a ticket....!!! LOL The parking attendant checks your Tax disc to confirm the emission level of the cars...!! So all you lucky folk that are popping over here with your Fiat 500 with a 1.2 or 1.3 Multijet... Free parking for you...!! But don`t forget to check the Tariff Board at the car park...!!!

Hi Booklady...!!! Hopefully the middle part will be good as well.....!!! LOL:D

I`ve been to the finish area this afternoon to see how the site is again and all is really good, I spoke to the site Director yesterday and have another meeting later this week to arrange some finer points, it gets better by the day....LOL(y) R
Route notes will be given at the start so even if you do get lost the notes will inform you where the finish will be and what time you need to be there...!! so it`s not a problem as long as you have a great day and some fun...!!(y)

Hi Grim

I didn't know you could do that - can you enlarge please? I've obvioulsy missed something quite obvious :)Thanks

Ok, here goes. Click on "USER CP" and then in "Your Control Panel" " go to "Edit Options"

SEE SCREENSHOT (click on it once to enlarge and then again to make full size)

Under "Messaging And Notification" in the "Default Thread Description Mode" use the drop down box to select your preference. I have chosen "No email Notification" that way everytime someone posts a reply to a thread I have contributed to it is listed ready for me to open.

If you choose the "Receive Email" option then whenever anyone replies you will receive an email as well to tell you someone has replied to a thread you have subscribed to. Whenever I log on to the forum the first thing I do is to click on "User CP" and that means I see the posts for the threads that I have posted in as my first action as they are the ones I am most interested in.

Whilst in the "User CP" I also then look at the 500 Club posts before clicking on "Forum" to go and see what else is going on in the 500 section.

If there is a new thread or post and I reply to it then I am automatically "Subscribed " to it and will see any activity the next time I go to "User CP"

This way you always see the important threads without having to open up every one to see if you have had any input to it. Also, there is the "Thread Tool" at the top of the page which will allow you to subscribe to a particular thread.

Sorry for the long windedness of the explanation and sorry if it doesn't seem straightforward but I promise that once you have it set up it will completely change the way you use the forum. Any problems just ask and I'll do my best to help. (y)

Excellent explanation - thanks for that. I have already subscribed to one thread as a trial and it looks promising. As you say, it will probbaly change the way I use the forum.

Cheers (y)

The beauty of being subscribed is that if you have posted in threads outside of the 500 section, a good example here being Booklady and the IOW meet you don't have to try and remember which section it was in, which with my memory would mean I would always be in trouble.

Glad it helped Bax and thanks for the thanks.(y)

Booked on the 1300hrs ferry from Southampton on Sat 9th, and on the 1830hrs ferry on the following day.

Booked in the Dorset Hotel in Dover Street for a ensuite twin room.

£98 for both. You got to love the credit crunch for it!!!

By comparsion, the Etap hotel in Geneva - I am attending the Geneva Show on 3rd & 4th March - quoted 160 CHF for one night's accomodation. That's about £100!

TangoTim, any decent shops in Ryde, being a serial shopaholic myself?
