Always leave the Marea in gear, couldn't tell you if the handbrake works on its own.

police told me if i dont get my handbrake fixed they was going to do me for dangerous driving(y)

on what count? its not dangerous driving, its driving an unroadworty vehicle, different offence, different consequences.

jeez the police would have a field day if they pulled over cento's!! :ROFLMAO:

if they pulled 10 centos over, 8 handbrakes wouldnt work at all, 1 would be borderline dodgy, 1 is perfect, and guaranteed that one had the m.o.t earlier that morning! :ROFLMAO:

funniest thing is my car has a rear brake conversion which is meant to sort the handbrake.... and its still crap!, it works, but its very, very poor.

I posted a yes. Simply of the basis that the handbrake has to work to pass an mot, if it isnt working then the car isnt roadworthy, is how I see it.

Regarding cento handbrakes, the only time mine didnt work so well was when a crosslever was partially siezed, the shoes werent great but after unsiezing the levers it held as good as any other car.
I have just swapped over rear arms including brakes, and the handbrake is still brilliant, crosslevers nice and slack - reading on the cento part of the forum many cinq owners change cables, shoes, slave cylinders and still have a crap handbrake, CROSSLEVERS is the problem.

driving a vehicle in an unroadworthy condition can count as dangerous driving. That sort of charge usually follows driving with no brakes at all or 4 bald tyres as it has to be obvious to a normal driver that driving a vehicle in that state would be dangerous.

It would be difficult to make a dangerous driving charge stick for just a non functioning handbrake.

cant be that illegal or there would be no centos on the road

:ROFLMAO:

No handbrake or one that is below an acceptable standard is an offence under the Construction and Use Regulations. Compulsory 3 points and a fine.

Oh ****

Better make it a priority job on the Panda 4x4 then

Have to leave it in gear at the mo
