I'm trying to put some music onto Carrie's iPod but am trying to avoid installing the cumbersome mass of iTunes :yuck: onto this already sluggish laptop.
I've tried using it like a 'normal' mp3 player and just navigating as if it's a removable hdd but of course it's been Apple-ised and is a complete mess. Is there an easy way to do it without mucking about with software or am I going to have to install something (preferably not iTunes) to do it?

as far as i know you need to use a programe

winamp is pretty good and is am awesome media player aswell

if your worried about system resources it isnt to bad and i think they have options to minimize it

As jip0 says, the latest version of WinAmp has iPod functionality for free and it's easier to use than iTunes. I hate iTunes.

Media Monkey is also pretty good but the free version is quite cut-down from the full version, which you have to pay for.

Have a look at ephPod too.

:)

I also loathe iTunes and have refused to allow people to install it on my machine when they want to copy some music. Even after uninstalling, it still leaves crap on the machine, that I just don't want there in the first place.
