Anybody had any experience with the K&N induction kit? The reason is the GSR kit is a lot more expensive, is it really worth the extra?

thanks for your advice in advance.

Paul

No experience with the K&N on a Panda although I did have the GSR for a while but I didn’t like the positioning of it (so close to the under tray) I felt there was too much chance of water intake (I stay in Scotland, too many puddles!).
Just don’t shoot me for saying that… I know it has a fan club… It’s just my opinion!
I use the BMC panel filter just now although I was thinking of trying the BMC CDA
I have to admit im not a big fan of K&N although if you simply want an induction sound then its probably ok I would think.

Ah thanks for the info I will have a look at BMC CDA and also the Novitec one, which has a lot better positioning. the K&N one sits at the top of the engine not underneath as well.
I would share your views on the GSR living in Northumberland and spending a lot of time in the lakes and Scotland it is very wet.

yeh init as id rather have it lower as cooler air its going to be getting to much hot air above the engine way to much

Never give that a thought..... is it protected from the worst of the elements? As I would rather have a bit warm air than sucking wet cold air into the engine.

 why do you want one at all? if you are going to fit one that sucks in warm air it defeats the whole reason people fit induction kits for

Ok Dave your right no cold air no improvement in performance, however just letting the engine breath more easily will make it rev more quickly. It may not produce anymore power but you will get what you got quicker ;)

I have had a bit much wine now and have sined a little  on advice from TJ07 I have purchased this http://www.gazzella.cc/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=18211&category_id=1540

and this

All that this leaves is the divorce  when she finds out

Time to go paperless with the credit card statement!!!!!!

And I know there are one or two people on here who think the twin exhausts make the car look like a wheelbarrow that is their opinion, I think it looks the muts :D

PS sorry about the spelling

going by the gazzella feed back on here you divorce maynot be for quite some time yet. exhaust is ok i suppose if all you are after is the look and dont mind maybe loosing a bit more power

Hi Dave,

why do you think it will lose more power  If it has been done right then again should let the car breathe more easily. Along with a free flow filter you should feel some gain in not in outright power then in the way the car picks up. Its like putting on lighter wheels on your MTB bike you do not produce more power however you can get to your max speed a whole lot quicker.

So more air flow in and out may not produce more power but the throttle response will be better and more importantly the car will feel faster (y)

Dave you do seem to be against the upgrades to the Panda and that is fine and to be quite honest up until now so was I for my daily driver. The little car has just grabbed a hold of me and I want to play. if the mods are rubbish then i will put it down to an expensive mistake if not then I will fully enjoy them. I do 20K a year and if I can have some fun while I am doing them then so much for the better. I have just traded a 57 plate Bravo 150 sport in for the Panda that I have covered 40K in the last two years and the only mod I have done to that is a tow bar . it has been a great car but its not really fun...

Now its my time to have some fun and reletivley speaking the Panda is a cheap way to do it.

The wife hates it and can not understand why I want to trade the lovley Bravo in for postman Pat's van (n) so when the upgrades do arrive I will be in deep deep trouble.

By the way great forum (people actually answer your questions)

warmer air = less power

taking the back presure out of the exhaust on a non turbo car = less power ( the twins normally do this)

Agree, and like I said before if the exhaust has been done correctly then the back pressure should still be there. I replaced the standard box on my other car with sports pipes and removed the cats. The gains I made by removing the cats were lost due to the sports pipes however when i linked the two exhausts via a link tube (and regained back pressure) I seen the gains that I was expecting.

The standard box on most cars is quite restrictive so hopefully the set up I have purchased will have been tested and tuned to the engine to give a small gain rather than a loss.

Yes but..... it's more about maintaining gas speed through the exhaust with correct pipe sizing so it drags the remains of the charge out of the cylinders. Back pressure is related to that but isn't the complete answer.

I'd be surprised if the air at the top of the engine bay is even warm, let alone hot once you're moving at any reasonable speed.

Have fun cutting the plastic trim for the other side. Pics would be good once it is done (y)

I have a Ragazzon on mine, but the Group N variant.

Yes i did think cutting that would be fun  i might chicken out and get it fitted else where  rather than destroying my rear bumber!

Is the group N loud?
