I think the HGT Abarth has fly by wire TB. If you're using a FIAT ECU, don't worry overmuch about the size of the TB (anything up to 50mm should be fine), but just grab something sensible(ish) off another FIAT with a real throttle.

If going aftermarket, the world is pretty much your lobster as you can forget about the FIAT IAC.

the 1.6 16v has the inlet on the front of the engine and the exhaust on the back iirc and this engine was only fitted to the marea again iirc, someone correct me if i'm wrong please.

on the TB no the hgt wont fit, if you want to fit a bigger TB to the 1.2 16v you need to use the mk1 punto sporting 16v inlt as its slightly different in the way it bolt to the inlet, bravo one has a 4 bolt pattern and the mk1 punto and the 1.6 16v use a 3 bolt pattern, or vice versa. but when you do fit it you need to port match the inlet to the 1.6 TB as there is a massive difference in size between the 2 and it causes problems if you dont, i learnt this the hard way. i will try to dig out the pics now and post in abit.

on the left is the stock 1.2 16v mk1 punto sporting TB
on the right is the stock 1.6 16v marea TB

and the other pic shows the style of inlet you need

this is a better pic that shows the stud pattern better

what i would say is if you intend on using this TB i would try to find a set of injectors that are slightly biger as this TB from what i read puts the injectors to max capabilities iirc its saxo vts injectors you will need as they are 40cc up on the stock 1242 16v injectors

Cheers mariocinq ur a star so the bravo and mk2 punto engines are identical apart from the inlet ?? So getting either wouldn't matter?? There's a couple of mk1 sportings being broken on ebay so ill get on there asap

I plan on getting
Inlet mani
Ecu
Engine loom
Just for a starter is there anything else I should be thinking about getting aswell??

Cheers

Awesome the more info to digest the better, I'm still deciding on whether to do the 1.2 or 1.4 conversion but I do know I want a 16v'er hopefully as a early winter project, also I've spoken to one of my mates that has a mate with a cinq sx that has no keys so hopefully I've found my rear end for the cinq trailer I have been contemplating :)

Cheers for the info so far guys gonna have a ebay binge methinks :)

Got a complete set of locks, ECU and code block (minus petrol cap - which jammed long ago, like many of them) back home from an 899cc Cinq S if either of you wanted to get it back on the road instead...

She's a bit of a mess she's been sat up for years and is probley quite rotten by now, I only saw it by chance as the grass is nearly up to the roof all round it, it would be a project and a half lol although I think I'd rather have a trailer project :p

be careful when you get the engine, the mk1 sporting will slot straight in with a minor adjustment but the bravo head has a stabliser that comes off the head on the timing side that goes to an engine steady, on my punto i put it on and was going to make a bracket to stop any engine rock but never got around to it, in a cento you need to remove it but like i say the mk1 doesnt have it.

once you have the engine, loom and ecu and you have a superchip (find a mapper that does eprom and they should be able to do it) you should be good but like i say if you use the mk1 punto engine you can use the cento loom as the mk1 punto doesnt have a cam sensor or knock sensor like the cento and the loom will connect straight up, i think you just have to lenghen the TB wires i memory is correct.

only if someone put all this info into the FAQs or Guides!....o wait

Ash

yes its all in FAQ but the problem is its not clear or easy to find exactly what you need to know, i have had that problem while i have been doing this and when i have asked in here for the answer i get "its in FAQ" even though things like the TB question dont seem to be answered clearly.

why do so many people just say "go look in FAQ" rather than taking 2 mins to type the answer if they know??

ps ash this aint a dig at you, its a dig at the whole forum.

Yea I've had that problem so many times, I understand that most is in the faq but surely the more info in the forum itself the less likely people are to have to keep asking the same questions, although the faqs cover a lot of it as mario said its nice to have someone that's willing to fill in the gaps, unless someone on here that seems to know everything could actually do a comprehensive guide with all the info in one place :D but then that would be harder and more time consuming than simply writing 'look in the faqs' eh??

I really appreciate the guidance mariocinq if there were more people on here like you then everything would be a lot nicer, but then again we can choose to ignore certain posts :D

Cheers again buddy
