Yes, it's a fake 5af.P4!!!
I will send it back to the dealer (I have 14 days to reject online purchase). Then I will probably put a new one, just to be sure :)

I hope the car will run a bit longer. I have also to change the exaust outlet and probably the steering column will have problems (sometimes it flashes with the warning light!).

But I hope to use my Punto at least other 100.000 km (now 180.000)!

Ciao,
Andrea.

To be honest I really think they gave me an old IAW 59F.

I am quite sure since I opened it (there is no glue into the plastic case, so I could open it without any effort) and I could find the "classical" repair of the 59F, with the rebonding/reconnection of the board, near the output stage/transistors.
They did a poor repair, since they put blobs of tin solder here and there (they probably used a standard soldering iron instead of SMD technology!) and they did not restored the protection gel which should completely cover the board.

Hi all, I finally fixed my car :D
I sent back the "repaired" ecu and I choosed to buy a brand new one.
I found it for approx 300 euro, I think it's a good price (with respect to 170 euro for the "repaired" one).
Now engine runs fine! i hope to drive it for 100.000 miles again!
Ciao,
Andrea.

Hello

I tried my best with the search function but couldn't find an answer.

Would a ecu model IAW 5AF.P4 / HW303 / 19BB W48 with part numbers 61601.069.03 and 51782650 be compatible with the ecu I'm planning to replace: IAW 5AF.P4 / HW303 / 19BB W48 with part numbers 61601.069.04 and 51784962. (Fiat Punto 1.2 8V, 2006)

Ebay is full of vendors selling the ecu with part number 51782650 and it's almost impossible to find someone who sells one with part number 51784962.

Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2246652843...,osub=osub,crd=crd,segname=segname,chnl=mkcid

do you mind saying why you need to replace the ECU? The coil output transisters could be replaceable without access to special equipment. It is much harder on the 16V ECU because of the bonded gold wires.

The car failed the MOT, check engine light stays illuminated. We already changed coils, plugs, ignition wire set and both o2 sensors. The engine misfires on ignition and stalls in the first 5 seconds unless some throttle is applied and idle stays rough afterwards. The mechanic suspected that the cause is most likely due to a faulty ecu, can't remember the error codes since it's not my car.

Would you happen to know whether all ecu models IAW 5AF.P4 / HW303 / 19BB W48 are compatible with each other even if the other part numbers are different?

Sorry. I do not have a definite answer about the types of ECU.

But why were all of those parts changed?

What codes did the mechanic find?

Changing the ECU sounds like you are guessing rather than being systematic.
