Help please

Hi
When I press the windows logo button on the steering wheel to initiate a call
it responds with the words "no messages"
How can I clear that as the manual says to press the button and say for example "call John"
I hope this makes sense.

apparently - the only devices that do EVERYTHING are windows phones - as it's all Microsoft,

my Android works o.k. as a phone , but no message reader
