Hello everyone,

I recently just got a 1.4 T Jet 16v Sporting 120 BHP and I need your help

Currently it has 161 Horsepower but I want to know how I could make it even bigger.

What would be a list of mods to get it to 190-200 BHP

Please help :worship:

I'm sure it's do-able, but your talking big money getting the block honed, forged pistons, all that good stuff.
There comes a point though where it can no longer be dailyed, so if you're planning to use it as a racecar then you should already know the answer, and if you're just playing a numbers game for no reason other than street cred, just stop and think about what you actually want...

A fast Punto which you can still use day-to-day? You've got it.

A fast car which you can brag about your bhp figures? Look elsewhere.

I saw a mondeo st200 recently on a local forsale website for £600, that’s 200hp out of the box without messing about and cars where lighter back in 1999 so likely to weigh about the same as a more modern punto. About the same time was someone selling a t-Jet punto Grande (with some terrible modifications) for about the same amount.... what’s your car going to be worth after you’ve ploughed hundreds or thousands into it.

Bear in mind this is the same basic engine they put in the abarth 500 and there are very few of them that manage anything above 180hp and that’s a factory “built” engine not something modified later. I’d suggest your only next step would be to take it to an engine specialist to have it bored, balanced, Ported and lightened, with forged bits huge inter cooler and a bigger turbo, yeah you could probably get 200bhp how much money do you want to throw at it. I had a friend in the early 2000s with a 180hp Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec. But he’d spent several thousand on a complete engine rebuild.

My 150hp Golf would probably be an easy remap to 200hp but then it would also likely lunch it’s on clutch. So I’d always buy a more powerful car than try to create one, because in a car designed for it, you’re far less likely to have things constantly breaking.

Quite easy:

- bigger turbo
- bigger intercooler
- straight-thru exhaust
- higher ml injectors
- ECU remap
- nitrogen injection kit
- ...

You'd get your 200 BHP or even more, but for how long and at what costs ?

Might last a bit longer but cost a lot more if you get the engine rebuilt with forged piston, strengthened rods, polished crankshaft, dry carter lube etc.

And how about the rest of the car, clutch, gear-box, brakes, suspension, body rigidity ... ? Definitely not worth all the assle and money if it's only to blow blue smoke at the traffic lights ...

BRs, Bernie

Show us the dyno readouts..

We are just guessing otherwise ;)

Currently I'm running 245bhp
-hybrid turbo
-Injectors
-Straight pipe
-Intake
-Uprated
-Blow off valve
-Intercooler
Hope this helps mate!

I’d love to see the actual print out as well, or maybe a video of the run?

I’m highly sceptical of 245hp from a non abarth car, even abarth cars struggle to make that sort of power without serious mods

I’m
Glad you’ve added an uprated ;)

But then again 245hp isn’t beyond the realms of possibility, the turbo lag would put most people to sleep

It's got the same engine as the abarth with an abarth esseesse ecu mapped on a base file of the stage 2 for the esseesse.
And yes it has alot of turbo lag
-and that was supposed to be an updated clutch

Ah the fabled made up "stages"
Good for selling work
Not so good actually saying what if anything has been done

Didn't come here to get attacked. I'm just trying to help someone out
But here you go a dyno graph of my car: Snapchat-190022915__01.jpeg

how do we know thats your car... No details about the car, non about the dyno, non about mixture or boost....

Also 170mph in a 1.4 Punto.... that's impressive :D Not sure the gearbox would allow that....

68 more HP than a Punto Evo Abarth Supersport, but only 4 more Torques... ?

You do seem to be missing a bit of data there. ;)
