Hi my Ducato 2.3 std has failed its MOT and I have a couple of queries about things.

1, The o/s leaf spring needs replacing and being skint I am looking at a 2nd hand one. Is a (single) leaf spring from a 2005 2.8 jtd the same as a (single) leaf spring for my 2003 Ducato 18, 2.3 jtd (at the ends the scroll is at the bottom and not in the middle).

2, The "offside (inner sill) suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded" (it also says the same thing for the n/s inner sill).
I cannot find (may be looking in the wrong places) a body panel described as an 'inner sill'. The thing is this excessively corroded area is not obvious to me, I know I sound daft but I cannot see it.

and replace last set of numbers with 7qfivjnn9(/) for 2nd photo

take out the brackets ( .= dot)

I know I should have asked at the time, but they where very busy and didn't want to waste their time and thought it would just be a case of getting the bits and getting it welded.

If I am looking in the wrong place please point me in the direction (link) of where I can get the body panel and then whilst standing up, lean back raise your arm and point your finger and p*ss yourself laughing.

I thank anyone that can help, cheers all the best jon.

Off side inner sill is on the drivers side, near side, passenger
if it's excessively corroded,it will need to be cut out,and re welded.

cheers rigormortis, currently looking here eper dot fiatforum dot com.

got the part no for 2.3 jtd leaf spring, but still no idea about the panel I need to replace the 'excessive corrosion' .

thanks for the reply Oneill, would that be the panel at the bottom of the photo (2nd image) (on left of 1st image , because if it is, there is NO corrosion there at all, just a bit of dirt ?

worked out how to post the photos

I'm a mechanic, but looking at those pictures tells me the mot inspector needs glasses.
Should have gone to spec savers;-)

I am beginning to think I may have been stitched up. Can anyone else confirm what the inner sill is, is it maybe the wheel arch bit, although I think he would have written "corroded wheel arch", not that I am questioning you Oneill, but before I go and make any unfounded accusations about trying to charge me for work that is not needed and make myself look like a t*t, I need to clarify. Like I say I don't know what an inner sill is or where it is.

If you look underneath the van,put your hand on the inside of the panel, that's the inner sill.

I wonder if he meant to write (or rather clicked the curser on the wrong box!) 'inner wing' rather than 'inner sill'?

Those pictures are not the inner sill, hence why they don't look so bad, they are not the problem

The sill runs between the front and rear wheels and "inner" combined with suspension component suggest its the point where the leaf spring or front lower arm(subframe) meets the body work

spot on Andy, I phoned them this morning after reading your post. The bit that is corroded is the inner sill just in front of the rear wheels. I now need to get inner sills for both o/s and n/s, does anyone have any recommendations as to where the best place to get them from. Always a pain as I live on the Isle of Wight, nice weather though.

Thanks Andy.
