heard the latest??

I got married on a beach in St.Lucia by a retired council worker who retained the right to perform marriages to do it in her retirement. I made sure all mention of religion was excluded from the process.

As I mentioned before, religion fills insecurity and provides comfort, my parents are both born again and, as with so many who find religion later in life, their lives were unhappy and christianity restored that happiness. My first impressions were good, because they were both happy again, but having had more time to think about it, they could have found happiness through herione, that doesn't mean I would approve. Just finding happiness alone is not necessarily good, if everyone had inner peace there would be no need for religion, but most people try to find inner peace through religion, to me this is like lying to yourself to make yourself feel OK.

Funnily enough, I had no 'indoctrination' as a child, my parents at that time were both non-believers, or non-church goers as was also case may be.

I have found happiness, and I don't believe I am lying to myself. My other choice would be to mourn at my mothers' grave every weekend, cry over a bit of soil that contains nothing, no spirit, no essence, not my mum.

I have belief, and I have hope - I am way too young to die now, and I will still be afraid of death to an extent, but if I believe there is life after death, then it means my life on this planet is just part of my life.

Has anybody experienced ouija boards? Spiritual readers? Seances? What about out-of-body experiences during operations?

Personally, I don't dabble with such things!

Btw, good debate :).

Oujia boards- Hmmm done the usual messing around with these a few years ago and I can honestly say that wierd things happened in the house after that.......

Not saying i believe in that kindda stuff but hey things happened...

Open mind and all that.....

Stuart I'm sure most if not all christians don't think they are lying to themselves, if they did, the comfort and happiness would go straight away, the whole point is belief, you have to believe for it to offer the benefits it does.

My missus watches Most Haunted every week and it makes me **** myself, with laughter of course. I am very willing to believe that people experience things and see things, but I think the explanations are way off the mark.

Oooh, could we be opening a new area of debate here. What happened to banning Santa?
