a little off a stilo topic but>>>>

in bull ring birmingham this christmas, There will be no santa as people from other religions get upset, and have stopped santa and also decorations!!!!

and they are introducing it to many shopping centres,

I think that is aload of ****te... i would hate to bring a kid up in this world,, ttt

No way...
Why don't we all just leave our country and give it up to these people ?
Thats just pathetic..
Makes me really angry.. if they don't like our religeons and our ways then why do they live here ?
I just had to delete a lot of what I just wrote..I dont think this is the right place to go into it.

I agree that they shouldn't get rid of Santa's, but it does annoy that our kids have christianity forced down their neck at school. It's not that object to them being taught christian values, but, if they are going to teach the kids about religion, the kids should have equal exposure to all religions, so they can make up their own minds about which, if any, to follow.

I appreciate that this is a predominantly christian country, but people don't choose where they are born. Kids should be taught about the Pagan influences that Christmas still keeps and they should be taught about other religious celebrations like Ramaddan.

Im not at all religious, but Britain is a christian country and should remain that way. Ive never been to, but think its highly unlikely that in somewhere like Pakistan planning permission for a christian church is going to be granted - so why in britain??

As for religion in schools, i dont recall doing much at all about christianity, it was nearly all hinduism and judaism and stuff like that.

Religion is the cause of far too much grief for me to be bothered with it.

its crapp int it, they wouldnt like it if we planted loads of churches in india etc... i dont understand, especially being brought up, its exciting when your a kid and its crimbo, but now we have to abide by rules in our own country...

its a christian country!!!!!!!!!! it always has been, and now we cant do the things we always did!! because some stupid law..

i feel sick

Ooooooh thats got on my tits!

I know the true meaning of christmas and all that but you dont see that as a kid. Christmas is that exciting time of year for the really young, just waiting for father xmas to bring all those pressies, looking through every page of the catalogue deciding you want everything!

Its all ******.

What they gonna do next? Ban Sundays as the Christians worship on that day?

There are things from other religions that I dont particularly like but I go with the flow. My closest coleague at work is a Muslim and is currently fasting for Rammadam. Not my belief but I purposely dont eat at my desk to make it that little bit easier for him!

Hello all, I've just joined the forum, so this is my first post.

Whilst I agree with many of the above comments, this stupidity about deleting Christmas is often nothing to do with other religions but because of the PC madness of councils and local authorities.

Politicians seem to think that everything that is English (or perhaps British) is politically incorrect and everything else is acceptable.

It has been said that other religions would respect the nominal Christianity of this country more if we stood up for our traditions.

You're right...

Its all b******s!

And to whoever it was said about kids being bombarded with Christianity, since when?

When I was at school I think we learnt about every religion but!

It is more a PC thing though, a bit like how we used to have the 'third world', then it was changed to 'developed or developing world', now apparantly it is 'the north and the south'. What a complete loads of s***e, and someone gets paid to come up with this!

Anyhow, since when did only Christians celebrate christmas??? I know plenty of muslims, hindu's etc who use it as an excuse to party.

As a Christian I am offended by people wearing Turbans and I am campaigning to have then banned from the shopping centre.

Maybe it's just my kids school where they get bombarded with christianity or maybe I just notice it more, because I abhor religion. The other day I went to see my 6 year old's class presentation about Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot. It was all about how the christians were trying to get rid of the roman catholic king, as with most national/international scale violence, motivated by religion. They then finished the presentation with a preyer, which I thought was a complete mockery, after just illustrating the problems religion causes. The prayer was in no way relevant to anything said in the presentation, it was just a prayer for the sake of it.

At the end of the day, it's not religion that causes the problems, it's people inacceptance of difference. Why the **** doesn't everyone just chill and let people get on and live their lives the way they want to.

By the way StiloBoy Santa Claus is Christian, St.Nicholas.

Christmas started as a pagan festival- the event has become an amalgamation of several different religious events, I don't see how it can be banned due to any one side of it- ie the Christian one. Christianity has to be one the most self-depreciating, PC, apologetic religions out there nowadays.

I'm not religious - I think each one is as nonsensical as the others - but this is retarded. How on earth are Santa and Christmas trees offensive to anyone?!?! Most people don't give a stuff about the religious aspects of Christmas - hence Xmas! - but they still celebrate it.
I bet you'd struggle to find a single Muslim/Jew/Sikh/Hindu etc who finds decorations in a shopping centre offensive. No doubt this bizarre scheme was dreamt up by a white middle-class do-gooder who spends too much time reading the Guardian.

Bloody political correctness, now THAT needs wiping out.

I agree with you Jonnyboy and equally Stilobum (welcome to the forum). Absolutely everyone I know in this country of another religion would have no problem with a Santa in shopping arcades - it's just the politicians recieve one complaint from a crank Muslim and think they have to act.

At school we had no religious bias and we learnt (but not much) about all the religions. Some schools are extremely religious and some not at all, and you usually don't have to send your kids to a school that rams Christianity down their throats

It's the bog standard council run primary school, it's probably because I live in carrot crunching land, populated by god fearing, interbred idiots. The other schools in this area are much the same. There are three churches in our tiny town, and another five within a two mile radius, maybe it's unavoidable.

To some extent I can understand the problem other religions have with Christmas in this country. How many times have you heard christian or agnostic people complain about how early they are advertising christmas on TV and how early all the things are in the shops. If it can annoy christians, it's likely to annoy other religions more, the Santa's Grotto's are probably just the icing on the cake that annoyed a few non christians too much.

That said, they should still get a life and try worrying about something more important.

As mentioned, origins of the December 25th celebration were the Pagans celebrating the return of the sun, as the days started to get longer again after the shortest day on the 23rd. Considering the sun provided everything their culture lived on, it seems a very good reason to celebrate. There are some residuals from the pagan festival, such as Yule Logs, and flambéing the christmas pudding, which represented the sun. As with most things the devious christians hijacked the festival to celebrate the birth of that bearded ****, who historians actually reckon was born around February or March, although how the **** they would be able to work that out is beyond me. The christians thought the celebration would be accepted more readily if they celebrated it alongside the existing celebration, it would appear they were correct.
