Grip socks,

Grip socks,

Grip socks are a brill idea - and can last as sludge guts say
Perfect for say my mrs who has a car that is slippy in wet let alone in the snow, she'd benifit to just get the car home

But it still dont beat the fact, suitable tyres are the better option
However i do know not every1 can afford winters and dont all have storage

Re: Snow socks,

Why are they now called Grip Socks

I've only had to use mine once, and done me well :D

Original ones made by a company called weissenfel or something like that are called snow socks they are a slightly different design which covers the centre of the wheel so they protect the wheel a bit if you slide into a curb. These are obviously a cheaper version but should work the same way which is good used mine alot over the last 4 years and they've not let me down yet although they are wearing in places.

Most of my socks grip well, usually to the soles of my feet and........hang on a minute. Ah, should have read this a bit better.........

is it going to snow this winter?

It's getting pretty late in the year, but it did similar 2 years ago, I seem to remember it was roasting in march but april it went all Arctic and ended up being minus 8.

Although if I'd spent money on winter tyres this year I'd be annoyed...it's been barely below 8 degrees.

Winter tyres still ok though, I prefer them in any single digit temps over summers. I'm convinced they saved me in heavy rain earlier this week, and was about 8C on the day.

Took a while to arrive. Turned up today.

I'd recommend test fitting them, first as if you've got newish tyres they can be pretty tight also if your car is quite low there can be a bit of a knack to it.

Definitely not something you want to try for the 1st time when your stuck . They're quite fiddly first few attempts.

Same with snow chains tbh.... no point struggling when it comes to the time :)
