You have to stop doing the martial arts until it's healed. It takes ages but keep using it will lead to weak muscles (disuse) and any significant use becomes impossible.

Steroid injection is a bad idea because these drugs damage connective tissue. What's a ligament or tendon if it's not connective?

I have done for the time being - I've gone from training 4 times a week to nothing at all and it had better help cos I miss it 😅

That's what the doctor diagnosed me with, Ive got one of these splints with a metal plate in which I've only worn for a couple of days and it's already made a world of difference alongside the painkillers

De Quervain's is extremely easy to diagnose. It's cause by the thumb getting thumped in towards the palm (say in a fall) or just hitting the wrist just ahead of the Radial Styloid at end of Radius bone. I did the first followed up by the second some weeks later. The only cure is rest. The synovial sheath can get snagged by scar tissue but leave it alone for now.

Apologies for bumping this thread up to the top again but I've dropped the gearbox and opened it up to have a look.

I've taken the internal selectors off to see if they were the issue - not the case, as when i spin the input shaft, the output shaft continues to spin. Reverse gear and fifth gear are also off.

If i select 1st or 2nd on the gear shafts, the input shaft doesn't turn, but it does when i select 3rd or 4th (although 3rd is very tricky to select and needs a light hammer tap to do so).

Had a further look - it appears that third gear on the input shaft is seized in place which is keeping the car stuck in gear. I don't have the equipment to take the bits off the input shaft so gonna look for a local gearbox specialist to ask nicely to fix it for me 😅

No worries. I'm keen to know exactly what caused this to seize up so if i can get someone to pull it apart for me then I can have a better look and (hopefully) stop it happening again!
