You won't loose all of your no claims you only loose 2 years worth if it's your fault BUT it wasn't your fault so why are they taking the claims bonus from you? You shouldn't be loosing any no claims at all.....

Thats the good bit alan .....

Didnt update you on this one as I have been away in sunny florida then working like a slave since I have been back. The investigator decided that I was to blame as the other party stated that I was over the line on the bend and there was 3 people in there car all confirming this. I did argue the fact that they werent exactly indepentedant witnesses and that how they would know this sitting in the back of the car:bang::bang: but he decided as there is a history of this happeneing with left had drive cars they took the side of the other party. The **** even said it was his fault at the side of the road but I have no-one to back this up and he has obviously had a change of heart once he thought about it. But thats good if I still keep 2 years I didnt know that cheers mate.

Steve, who have you obtained quotes from? I wrote a Jeep Cherokee off 18 months ago and am only paying £350-ish for me and the missus fully comp.

I think I am with privilege, have you tried the guy's who advertise on the forum? or some of the sports car specialists?

I would steer clear of classic insurance, it usually has a bunch of usage limitations and also does not count towards your no claims, in fact if you only insure a car on classic for 3 years or more you will loose any no-claims bonus you have!

Cheers Lee

I will look into it. I only thought of classic as I have insurance on my mazda and I was lovingly informed by my insurance company that you could only use your no claims on one car, your second car you get no discount. :bang:

Sh*t sorry to hear that mate  I would go back to where it happened and knock on a few doors if it's in town, if in the country then it would be pointless.

Re the policy(ies)......
If you have only just started the insurance on the B last year as your second car and didn't have any no claims on a second car before then they are correct. If you have had two policies running and both had full no claims then you would loose two years on the Barchetta policy but none on the Mazda policy.

HOWEVER

If the Mazda is much cheaper to insure you can swap policies so the Barchetta is on full no claims and the Mazda is on zero, making the Barchetta cheaper to insure and depending on the mazda (was this the £500 one) etc it will not cost much to insure it anyway with no no claims, just up the excess to as much as possible etc. You can have a play on the swift insurance site with excess, accidents etc and the price varies depending on what you input.

The maza is my newish car its a rather little known suv called a tribute and I just paid £5000 for it so my insurance is still a reasonable ammount. I didnt use any no cliams on this one and it is £650 a year so I will wait and see what they offer me on the barchetta. I cant get a quote from my current insurer for anther 3 weeks as they cant generate it until 28 days before. With regards to the crash it was on a country road so I am stuffed. Only real good point is I wanted to get the car resprayed anyway and now it is blemish free for the £400 excess and whatever my premium goes up by. So I suppose i saved money only bad thing is I have lost out on nearly 4 months of road tax I just taxed it before the crash and its up again next month (n)

If you had full no claims on it before the accident it will rise but not by a huge ammount. As said try swiftcover and confused.com and submitt whatever claims you had minus 2 years eg 5yrs goes to 3yrs and the accident and see what figures they come up with it will give you a rough idea PLUS you may find by changing companies the difference isn't much or even less than you were paying before. I never use the same company 2 yrs in a row unless their premiums are cheaper than when phoning/surfing all other avenues.

Wouldn't get too hung up on an insurance increase. I just got my renewal after herself did 3k of damage to it on my policy. I have step back no claims. I've lost 1 year NCB and my premium has gone up €50 so I'm not complaining.

You might be surprised.

Don't worry about your car insurance - its the house insurance you should be fretting over!

Last year I paid £185 for home and contents insurance, re-build value of £130k and the usual contents cover etc - renewal has just dropped on the doormat for £395!!! I have not made a claim, I live a 80 meters above sea level and therefore don't flood, I don't have subsidence so where the feck did the increase come from?????

I have managed to get a couple of more 'reasonable' quotes from moneysupermarket of £235, Tesco wanted nearly £500 and Hiscox nearly £600!

Funny how everyone notices the price increases in car related charges but the 'ambient' cost of living just keeps on rising................

your insurance went up becuz of all the marble and golden doorknobs in your redecorated hallway...

:D

Well the B is back :):):):)

I have finally managed to get the car back after much moaning. I initailly went to see the car when I got back my holidays and it was still going thru "final checks" I made mine and made a few points such as they had forgotten to put my lip spoler on:bang: and that the front bumper wasnt flush at the sides:eek:
I am now very pleased at the work and also the fact that it took them 30 more man hours than they quoted the insurance company to fix her

ha ha ha ha ha ha

I did warn them but they didnt listen " no we fix aston martins here this is just a fiat" eat your words biatch lol

Still only issue now is my insurance is renewed next month and I am a bit scared  I have had a few quotes from different companies but I have lost my no claims and its now over a £1000 at the cheapest. Which I cant afford at the moment. can we insure a b as a classic yet??? as I done this in the past with a mk1 mr2 and it saved me a fortune. Otherwise she will be joining the many from the site on auto trader.

Any thoughts????

My 1997 B is insured as a classic and costs about £300 pa. However, the cover has a limited mileage so if your B is your everyday car this might be a problem. The brokers I use are Diamond Insurance, tel. 01442 825481. I have used them for about 6 years as they arrange cover for another car but they do tend to add their 'cut' each time they do something (such as when adding another driver they will charge a small fee over and above the insurance company's charge), but like everyone they need to earn a living. Worth a call to them.

My ins renewal came in the post 17/6 because my no fault claim is still not settled yet, with 3yrs no claims they want £712 and my excess is up by £150 to £400 , after lots of phone calls they have not revised my quote which is due on 15/7 , been searching about on websites and after explaining the unsettled claim is still ongoing admiral qouted me £375 with £250 excess
