Being New Year an possibly several of us intending to lose a wee bit of last years beer/food bulge. Would anyone be interested in a Fiat-Scotland Fat Club?

There are several forums, some of which we equally frequent have there own fat club thread of varying levels of information and activity.

I put on about 2st over last year and Gill is heading back to Scottish Slimmers to lose the baby weight. She's going on Monday nights and although I'm not going to pay to be weighed, I'm intending to use wii fit to weigh myself weekly as well.

Anywho, anyone interested?

Apparently it's slimming world she's gone too, not Scottish slimmers lol

I can understand Martyn's thoughts about mentioning weight publicly, which is why I never commented on the FF thread, but as it's a lot more homely here, why not.

I went from a comfortable 13st 34"waist to 15st 36"waist over the course of last year. Thankfully due to the lack of consistency between clothing manufacturers I've escaped having to buy new clothes and just worn less more often.

See, I have no problems mentioning weights/sizes here. I don't think.

I just can't believe how much I've put on over the years. Probably cos my job has me sat on my arse for 8 hours a day. When I was a shelf stacker or cleaner I could eat/drink as much crap as I wanted and I hardly put any weight on.

I know that half my problem is diet, with lack of proper excercise a mathematical 'more than half'

buy a dog people.

you work your arse off to feed it run around all day trying to catch it and walk them every day..... you gotta burn some carbs there.

seriously though start walking places and watchwhat you eat and weight shouldnt be a problem. i know its harder the older you get but aslong as you keep fit you will loose weight.

i was reading (susprising i know) an article in a mag today that had a heading saying "How long it takes to burn off ten favourite foods" heres a couple of them

One slice of Domino's pepperoni pizza........45 minutes of swimming
Packet of Walkers cheese and onion crisps.......35 minutes of frisbee
Bacon Sandwich on white bread......58 minutes of football
Granny smith apple..................15 minutes of weightlifting
mars bar.................50 minutes of aqua aerobics

id say its more what ur eating i guess.
and yes steve getting a dog is a great idea, we have a 7month old spaniel and its keep us all very active to say the least

Well we've both just been on the wii fit scales, Gill went on just to check there accuracy. They were a 1lb out so seem pretty accurate to me. I was 15st 1lb @ 23.30. Having looked through the history, turns out I was 15st in July and 14st on 28/01/10 so only put a stone only last year not two, bonus

As for exercise, I bike to work 4days a week which is 4mile round trip and run about after 3 kids and wife lol allergic to animals so dogs etc are a no no.

ive been top trumped. any other dogs? we've two spaniels so walks are always good fun.

2 year old Springer spaniel collie cross... in short...hyper, mental, and never ever tires.

Downhill mountainbiking is what keeps me going :)

Try this on then Kieran:
1 Collie x Pappilion (Bitch)
1 Fox Hound x Lab (Bitch)
1 Collie x Paterdale Terrier (Dog)

The Hound is the dafty, Collie Pap is the moody one, Collie Terrier would Great & Eat.

Ive definetely been topped trumped. lets just say dogs seem the way forward to keeping fit

Last year's new years resolution was to loose weight and get fit and I kept at it till March.

Poor excuse, but work got in the way after March and it all went down hill from there.

Being exceedingly old I also have old age spread which is hellish difficult to shift, so at my annual MOT I was 2kg more than last year when I was 3 kg overweight (or undertall)

So, first target is to loose the 5kg, so eat less, eat better and exercise more.

I have a 15 month old cocker that likes a long walk, so thats a start, plus back to the gym next week and make sure all the christmas choccies are hidden/disposed of, but definately out of my line of sight.

Keep well
