I'm looking to replace front struts on 100HP. Shop 4 Parts use the same code for all models of 169 Panda. But looking at other suppliers, some have have different numbers for the various models 100HP/JTD/1.2 others offer the same parts for all models.

My question is there really any difference?

Fiat produce 22 different struts not including the 100hp. Depending mainly on weight distribution

Probably many more now as the eco seem much more aggressive

Whether you will notice any real world difference I can't say. I doubt anyone can. We often see comments how much better a 3rd party shock or damper is. But this is seriously flawed as compering a worn out shock with a new one is meaninglessness

I've found a pair so we will have to see how they compare to the old units on the car. If they are wrong, I'll have to stand the costs of returns but can't wait around as I have an MoT due soon and one side is leaking.

I was expecting there to be many different types from OEM. The question is do they have any functional differences? I suspect not because some suppliers have Fiat 500 struts on the same listing as Panda 169. Some list the 100HP separately others (including S4P) don't.

The old shocks had thicker piston rods than the new units. However, the handling now feels like it did when I bought the car. I cant do a back to back tests but not convinced the fatter stem shock are significantly better than "standard". If you want "the mutts" then go for top spec Bilsteins at 10x the price.

Shop 4 Parts seem to agree because the same shocks are offered across the range. Other sellers have 100HP/JTD only versions but none specify what you are getting over normal shocks.
