Re: First to second gear

The platypus is the only animal that looks like a duck.

Anyway.....Kev so what's the next step with the Duralogic? Has that guy finished his training course yet?

They still have the wrong spelling in this week's ad..

Don't know yet, the salesman said he'll contact me when the technician's done with the training, so if he doesn't call me by say Wednesday then I'll call him.

Is Dame Edna Everage really a woman?

No, he's Barry Humphries.

Re: First to second gear

Well I've finally received some more info about the car. I'm a bit surprised at how high the servicing costs are, although the intervals are nice. Kev hurry up and get a service so you can compare the difference :p

Hello Turbodiesel,

Approximate Service costs for 1.9litre Fiat Punto Sport

20,000 $525.00

40,000 $525.00

60,000 $968.00

80,000 $615.00

100,000 $525.00

I would recommend using a 16” Steel rim as a spare if you didn’t wish to have the fix and go.

Please don’t hesitate to phone me and arrange a test drive.

Fiatdownunder if you're out there can you please give me some feedback on these prices? Thanks.

What's the source of this info? Just wondering why the intervals are 20 000?

At the rate I'm going I won't need a service until November at the earliest as I've only done ~3700km in 6 months!

An email from the saleswoman. This is all very confusing, the UK guys say differently as well. Like I said, 20,000km is great for me but it comes at a price.

As T implied we have a different service interval because we have different road conditions and platypuses running around.. but according to the AU warranty book, the intervals are 30 000km, with oil/oil filter change at every 15 000km in between.

Seeing that you're going to pick up a lot of kms, you might want to double check with a few other dealers just to make sure.

Hey buddy, i'm back, been playing on another site lately. naughty me!

about the prices, they seem about right, in NZ$ they are a similar price so from what i see it's pretty good.
they do a menu pricing system now so the price is always slightly high, you'll prob find that the actual price will be a little lower, they always look for worst case scenario!

Thanks mate that helps.

By my calculations this car is actually going to cost me more in running costs than my current one :bang:

So it kind of contradicts my reason for wanting a diesel...
If it wasn't for the high servicing costs I would have been sold, but now I'm back at square one! AAAHHHHH!!!!:bang: :bang: :bang:

have you costed in the fuel economy and cost of filling it full of fuel though?

Re: First to second gear

Yes that would probably be the only area where I'd save a bit and it wouldn't be a whole lot. Look at today's fuel prices:

Unleaded 122.9
Diesel 130.5

Insurance is also going to be more because it's a "Sport". But I've never seen such high servicing costs for a car. I mean over $900 for a 60,000km service?!

I remember a Volkswagen salesman telling me that their diesels were no more expensive to service than a petrol. He said a Golf TDI would be around $200 every 15,000km, which is a LOT cheaper. I would have thought the Punto would be similar.

I know I might seem a bit "Economic" but I don't want to get something that I regret later on, especially with my high mileage.

I want to know why over there the service interval is 20k but here it is 30k.
does outside heat affect the engine wear and tear T?
just ask the dealer what they do on a 60k service, try and get a rough break down of it....let me know

Re: First to second gear

But it still needs a 15km oil change in between the major services doesn't it?
So therefore you'd still have to visit the dealer every 15k...?

I'm not sure the lady will know too much about what's involved in the services but I might send another email just to clarify things. Like I said those costs almost scared me away
