Following your advice on other posts re oil pumps I have packed it with Vaseline , and am using the 500 pump with new gears. (I carefully chose the new gears from the options available at fdricambi, being the ones with shallower gear depth but large dog gear to fit the new 650 camshaft.)
I went to fit the timing cover and the gasket had shrunk, and I very carefully - tore it.:bang:
Need to order another.
I did however get the rocker gear on and tappets adjusted today, and thanks to telemike who had a box of engine bits stashed away I also got a couple of tab washers for the timing gear to camshaft so that is all good now.
