Technical engine management electrical diagrams

Hi all, i have a dash board engine management light on, but the engine starts and runs fine, people ive tried to get it fixed with say its not a mechanical fault, but an electrical one, problem is, fiat do not release and guides, plans diagrams etc. Engine No 8140.43S Strange... when i pull the fan relay out, the engine cuts out and will not start, put back in, starts up ok, so looks like a have a faulty wiring, wires touching someplace.. and Im getting a faulty reading, but without the wiring diagram im stuck...

There are several Ducato workshop manuals in the forum downloads section here: https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?categoryid=22 Most of them have wiring diagrams, but I don't know which one is suitable for your engine.

I'm thinking this is a 2.8 Litre engine in a 2000 to 2006 (X244) Ducato. Is that correct ?

The 2.8jtd or 8140.43s engine was fitted to Ducato models from 2000 to 2006. The earlier vehicle models were designated xxx230, and subsequent to a facelift and revised gearbox in 2003? were redesignated xxx244.

The engine was manufactured with and without EGR, and with two alternative cold starting devices, thermal starter or heat flange. There are also "Power" versions with VGT turbo. If my memory is correct these were designated 8140.43n, and only made without EGR. So six versions in all.


With the 8140.43s, there are engine control diagram differences dependant upon the type of fuel filter fitted. It was only when I investigated changing the fuel filter, that I had the eureka moment, and realised that my black fuel filter was in fact a "green filter".

So which engine do you have? The following link applies to x244 vehicles, so if you have an earlier x230 Ducato, may not be so helpfull. Unfortunately the descriptions section relating to engine management is chopped short.
