its the 2 allen bolts in the manifold that can be the problem
hi. yes I know about the 2 Allen bolt problem I have borrowed a stud extractor kit & re tap kit just in case its undoing the 1 Allen bolt clamp separating the egr from the manifold as there is not a lot of room it take you all the time to get your mirror on a stick to see anything never mind your hands . thanks

you want to try it on an aclass motorhome
hi . I know a chap on our storage site has just bought one a burstner elegance that's one of the reasons I would not buy an ACLASS you would need to train a ferret to do your engine overalls coachbuilts are bad enough

I know its hard to get at mine is a burstner aviano I made up a plate and fitted it at the other side of the cooler 100% easy they could do this and supply you with a plate to fit that end

hi all. starting on fitting the blanking plate today been waiting for weather to warm up I hope by dinner time it will look like this ( techno's photo ) then back home for drink or two being retired I'm no rush as long as the job gets done with no hiccups

its the 2allen bolts in to the manifold that can be the problem 6mm I think they are tight and round off. I fitted a plate on my last motorhome and when I sold it wet to get it off I could not get the bolts out only on for 7 months and around 1500 mile if that so good luck and hope it goes ok and I am also in the motor trade for 35+ years

hi . well the day didn't go as planned what a job took the erg cooler & erg valve off together but the left hand allen bolt wont come out so I will have to pick up the extractor & re thread kits up i'm borrowing to carry on

that's what I said put it back on and block the other end off very easy to do that

hi all . ok got the allen bolt that had rounded off inside I cut the top of the bolt with my dremel squirted it with d w40 a small tap with the hammer got a grip with my mole grips & because cutting the top off it relieved the pressure on the threads & out it came so no need to borrow my mates extractor tool all I have to do now is put it back together there is one thing no one has mentioned the thin metal spacer gasket both ends of the cooler egr see photo as It was just about to drop at the back of the engine I think I will just use 1 gasket manifold side & leave the metal 1 out hope this helps someone as I have been helped on here thanks all

hi all . job done I have become quite an expert this morning having fitted ( in 3 hours ) the egr/cooler twice as I made a school boy error putting the long bolts in the cooler I didn't notice that 1 is longer after I was tightening up the bolts realized that the bottom one ( it had to be didn't ) so had to take the lot off as you can't get them out they are right up against the bulkhead I left out 1 gasket & the metal gasket to give me more room another thing was I left the heat shield bolt loose so I could tilt the plate back to give more room for my hands which was easy to tighten up after with the o-clap P .S I fitted the cheater months ago & as you know the x250 does kick out black smoke BUT not anymore with the egr out of commission & i.am sure mpg has got better will know on a long run

hi . I checked the egr valve & I noticed it is pushes down went in operation so to be honest I think just fitting the cheater would have been ok the exhaust fumes if the valve is closed could not get pasted the valve the only problem is knowing its closed plus I liked to chop the fumes off at source that just me but you fix is a 2 minute job

mine was an aclass I could not get to it and if the bolts had not come out it would have been a no way job that's why I did it

hi all. not been on a long enough run since egr blanked but its deferentially runs better plus mpg has gone up very little black smoke & the fuel . i have had my motorhome for a few years know & you get to know how it performs don't you which i keep my eye on fuel i know what you are going to say the dash readouts are not reliable so that's why i do fill to fill but not had chance . the readout on the dash had its highest reading 26.1mpg i know that will probably be out but its gone up at least 2mpg . when i think what it was showing when new 19mpg before my remap throttle exchange & egr blank off i think i have done well so carnt wait to go on my Spain tour to do fill to fill
