Technical EGR issues, removal and cleaning

Looks like cleaning this really should be done periodically! If it sticks shut it can screw the turbo, sticking open it limps and performs poorly with equally poor MPG.

heres a guide for the 150 16v jtd looks similar but is fed from beneath egr.
that egr valve looks more like 115 jtds. search for a thread by argo in the stilo section on egr.

yeah its the 2 underneath that are putting me off doing it, I really suspect mine needs doing too I have all they symptoms, I just know Im gonna drop one

The corragated 90 degree pipe is so easy to take off, just be careful of the two seals at each end. Then take the blocks off either side... I reckon a good job done will take under an hour...

yeah Id be ok doing the 90 degree pipe, I cba takeing the valve off though because I know I will drop one of the screws underneath

Well I found a hole in the pipe, so I bought a new one. But looking into the EGR valve itself, its full of gunge!! But I gave it a quick clean and made a hell of a difference! But I want to clean the EGR valve itself. I'll do a guide on what I do....

sweet nice one lee havent had a read yet, but will be doing mine towards the ends of the year when ive covered a few more miles!

How many had your mjet done before you started having problems? and others if you have EGR valve problems thinking of it! Was thinking of waiting till i hit the 30k mark later on this year then give it a good old clean.

Mines at 27k and it was clogged! Turbo wasnt kicking till about 2500 revs, when I replace the pipe with the hole it went to 1800, now all cleaned... 1400!

I really need to do this, Im gonna do the pipe tonight, I dont have the bottle to take the full EGR off :lol:

Odd Lee innit... I got 42,000 miles clocked up now and still have full power and smooth boost. Still gonna be done at some point though... good job done that mate....
