Yes the listing on ebay does not include the 180 and clearly states for 4 pin only

I was unsure and asked tafmet for assurance and it was forthcoming. The reference to 4 pins was actually the maf as I recall and the egr only had 2. On mine, the maf is totally different looking and the egr has 5 pins. I hadn't accessed my engine (removed the engine cover) until today, so didn't know what was there. Progress.......
He has responded wanting more detail so will send photos etc as requested and see what transpires.

hi . have you fitted the blanking plate yet as blocking the egr off was my next job & not ordered mine yet as it's the same engine as techno 100 with 4 pines on the flow meter . cheers

All euro 5 engines as far as I'm aware were fitted with electronic egr valves from 2011 on to solve the issues from the previous euro 4 vacuum ones, plus to aid the newer lower emissions I presume

May add, that's the iveco engines, couldn't say on the pug/ford lump

To those people out there with the 2.3 vacuum operated egr (mines a 2011 model) ive blanked mine off at the throttle body and exhaust manifold removed the entire egr unit and had a custom fitting made up to take the heater hose back into the block using the standard fiat hose. Ive blanked off the vacuum supply to the egr controller leaving the controller plugged in so the ecu still sees that its there, mass flow meter, O2 and map sensor untouched runs cooler no codes fuel consumption slightly better
Cheers Adam

hi now you have been to france & back my question is when blocking off the EGR & stopping the exhaust fumes ( 700 fahrenheit ) entering the cooler does it take longer to warm up & does it run cooler now . cheers
Mate a working engine will heat up the same wether egr fitted or not its the under bonnet heat and less strain it places on the cooling system that is where the real benefits lies, Ive noticed that idling now it has dropped by 10 degrees (approx) heater still works the same . Im looking forward to the next summer to see the full benefits Cheers Adam

No - never got that far. Wasn't intending to do it anyway as motor shows no signs of egr malfunctioning.
tafmet has agreed to my returning the unit which was nice of him. He does not have a suitable unit for use with electronic egr. Mapping is the only way to achieve it, it seems. Will investigate further.

Just to acknowledge that tafmet refunded the cost to me after I returned the item. Full marks to him.

Hi
Thanks a lot guys for all the info
Like many of you I have replaced my throttle body on my 3.0 2007
Today I began installing my Tafmet device.
Techno100 you made my day when I found out you removed the cooler as well. I got the Egr valve of without removing the cooler but get it back on seems impossible.
So tomorrow I will remove the cooler to the get the Egr back.
Have U any more updates on your blanking mods? Are they still installed.

Cheers from Sweden

Mine is running sweet.
I don't think removing the cooler is necessary but loosening the bolts certainly.

don't fit the 2 gaskets on the plate and you will get it back on easy

Finally got my EGR mapped out today. One day job and costs $450. Very happy to finally get it done and at a reasonable price. For anyone in Oz who is interested, I can provide name and address and contact name for the business that can do the map-out. It is on the north side of Brisbane. Please email me if you would like the details. [email protected]

I had the EGR on our 2008 3.0lt mapped out in early 2014 but one thing still gets me thinking - if, for whatever reason, the EGR was stuck in the open position, would the re-map EGR deletion just cut the signal to the EGR and therefore it would be permanently open, therefore negating any benefits?

So how can you tell easily if the EGR deletion has been successful and the EGR is actually closed?

Edit - duplicate post thanks to browser, sorry.

hi all .just arrived today my EGR cheater off ebay ( x250 3L ) reading up on this thread whether to fit the plate or not as the work involved & little space to do the job . the only way to tell if the valve is closed is take it off the manifold plus if it is closed could it open with exhaust manifold pressure & to be honest by the time you have taken the egr off providing the 2 nuts undo you might as well fit the plate ( sorry about photo )

Presume you don't have a dpf on your vehicle. If the egr was stuck open, it would cause overfuelling and a heap of black smoke out the exhaust. Not sure what effect it would have with a dpf as it may catch the excessive smoke until it clogged up. I'd say no probs with yours at all.
