Hello
Ive got problems with my mother in laws Panda 1.2 petrol dualogic.

It moves very little, probably been standing for a month. Went to it the other day & it refused to engage either 1st or reverse. Just clunked, went bing bing & stayed in N. The temperature was about 3 degrees C. I left it running until the fan kicked in, still no joy. so I switched it off & went back to it an hour later once the warm engine had warmed the gearbox a little & it worked fine!
Same thing today.
The gearbox oil is new & there’s enough dualogic fluid in it, I even added 50ml to make sure!
The pump starts & everything else seems normal.
Obviously something doesn’t like the cold, anyone know what it might be?

That’s a though. If the brake lights don’t work the gearbox ECU assumes you’re not pressing the pedal & won’t engage a gear. I’ll try in the morning & check them if it’s not behaving.

Had similar problems a couple of times on different cars. Both times it just went away and didn't come back.

I think once it was just a low battery problem, as the starter sounded sluggish. I put the battery on charge and left it overnight. When I started it the next morning it was fine, so didn't give it another thought.

The other time I think the clutch plate was probably stuck to the flywheel. Didn't bother to check it out at the time, as it was *really* cold and everything was iced up (I was only going to move the car further up the driveway, so just left it where it was).
I guess I could have checked it by putting the ignition on but not starting, and then rocking the car to make sure it was free to move.

irc, yes I’ve had battery problems with it, new battery sorted it.
Good point about it being the clutch plate stuck, when I try to select a gear I hear the robot clunking. I wonder if it’s trying to disengage the clutch

Most Easterly Pandas, yes I suppose that’s a good idea. I doubt my £20 OBD will tell me much. Might need specialist attention

MultiECUscan software will enable you to do everything with it that a main dealer can (y)

Car is there too Im guessing..

Im down in Abertillery..

Quicker from Norwich..

Yes the car is here!

I’ve just found a guy in stoke on Trent that offers an overhaul of your robot unit for £450. He’s ex Fiat dealer & the listing inspires confidence!
Lot of money but if you add £450 to the £500 value (?) of the car what can you buy ?
