my mam has a mini city 30 thousand miles on teh clock lovely little car iam thinking about getting one as a project car and cramming a suzuki swift engin ein it

Which swift engine? A 1 litre will hardly 'cram' it

would rather see a well sorted 1275 conversion rather than a swift conversion

Hope you are good with a welder, you will need it

You can barely afford your own car without a job :D

You do know that the work wont come cheap, and i hope you have good technical knowledge if you are doing it by yourself (y)

Is it a project car that you will be using yourself, if so, dont forget about insurance

You cant just slap any old engine in any old car, in that case I would like the V12 from a Lamborghini Diablo in my Stilo please

Would the Swifts engine even fit in a mini, baring in mind a Swift is actually quite big compared to a mini :spin:

Hmmmm I've never heard of one. Only thing people think about is Redtops, Vtec's and bike engines. Seem to be the easiest.

I really found this interesting http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/ don't really want to promote it. But it will probably put you off enough to stop thinking about it lol.

I've got a mini, I've had it about 5 years now, I bought it for my now ex as her first car, it was going to be a quick MOT job then paint it pink:bang: but we split up about 3 weeks later and I decided to do a full concorse restro. 5 years later its still on its side, taking up a ramp in my mates garage. Sorry about that. still on the bright side, its been an interesting talking piece.

The family "mini" :D

And yes, the swift 16v does indeed fit into a mini (y)

Ooh...a Wolseley :D At leasts it looks like a Wolseley going off the grille badge :)

Yeah, there are a few GTi'd Minis about. Not as many as the there are Redtops/VTECs though. Might be different now but AFAIK you can get conversion subframes for Redtops and VTECs (and be able to do away with the rubber suspension as well I think) but I'm not sure if you can get one for a GTi engine. That means a homebrew - not exactly something you want to be doing if you're a first timer.

Oh yeah, getting a semi decent insurance quote would be an absolute nightmare for a teenager!

i will use it for my self eventually! oh and i researched and i think its easier to get the 998 sent off and re done

this was my mini sold it last july
1.2 advantage hmmmmmmm the good old days lol

miss it:cry:

my m8 had one with a metro turbo engine, can't say I was that impressed with it. You'd be better off just buying one and restoring etc.. mainly cos insurance will rape you if you do any engine stuff :p
