Hi. I think my doblo's timing chain just snapped, wanting help and advice from people who know these.

It's been rattling for a long time. I have a car mate who does jobs for me, a mechanic, MOT's vehicles. I mentioned the rattling ages ago. I suppose we have both procrastinated although I reported louder rattling this past year, requested he sort it. He queried my recent oil change. Dubious filter. New filter, quieter although over the months it's come back. Last weekend I changed oil and filter hoping to get the same positive reaction, no change.i called my mate insisting on giving it attention soon as poss. Broken ribs -"I'll be there when I'm up and about on 3 weeks".
Tappy tappy, worrying, loud tappy, unhealthy, worry, tappy.

Then leaving a customers house earlier I started it, it fired up fine but then died like I've never experienced a vehicle dying before. Usually when you try to start and it fired so much the engine is turning away normally you've succeeded whereas this fired then abruptly stopped. Crapped myself, gave a few minutes. Turned it over, same.
Today from starting cold there was a noise that isn't normally there.

Went back with mate to tow it. Put in 5th handbrake off. He said it should roll, it doesn't move at all, your engine is seized.

Never any significant problems.

Does anyone have any ideas, guidance, things to check to diagnose ?

Any help appreciated.

There are 'weak links' built into the system to stop a massive parts bill.

Just remove top engine cover.. and rock motor with car in gear

If the camshaft moves you have a different issue ;)

Mine had a few bent valves apparently, and on inspection they found minimum engine wear, but the engine was well looked after by me with regular oil changes which is important with these engines
I had replaced at my request.......................
Oil pump overhaul
All new valves
water pump
Thermostat
egr valve
Fuel injector pump was only a year old
overhauled injectors
glow plugs less than a year old
Obviously new filters
All auxiliary belts changed
Just to add, i did not have the obvious cam chain rattle mine just snapped at low speed
