General Do so many Panda threads need to be relocated?

Before we start arguing about things that should have been covered in the past:

1. IMHO a build thread should stay in the model section. MM is more to show off a (finished?) vehicle or when you do something major to it. Ideally you would have your MM thread and everytime you reach a milestone in the build thread, add a link in the MM thread to it.

2. Panda chit chat *can* stay in the Panda section. General chit chat should really go in the LL, but as I said before, I can understand if you want to chat "amongst your friends" - however if it really is a general type thing, please do use LL.

3. Threads going off topic is a difficult one, however as long as the main "issue" in the thread has been addressed, there is no harm in a bit of banter. The problem arrises when a user asks about a specific problem/issue and the thread goes off topic *before* the solution is given - as generally the original issue will then get lost and upset/annoy the thread creator.

4. However, classifieds, MM threads, ebay links and group buys must go in the correct forums - the right bar solves any issues with them not being found :)

5. It is preferable to use the report posts section if you feel there is a problem, multiple reports all get merged automatically anyway so dont worry if more than one reports it - however in a situation like this, it's good to get a thread going to discuss (y)

Ben you are truly a star!!!!!!:worship::worship::worship:

Ok...please please please make sure that your wise words on panda chat and off topic issues are taken on boared by all mods as there seems to be others disagreeing with you!!!
Looks like the build thread will work too!!!!

Its 3.25am...so i think thats it from me!!!!!...

TBH I said all this before in the last massive discussion thread we had.

I can't comment on the threads that have been moved as I dont know which ones they were, but it seems like the complaints in that respect were a little petty (thread wrongly moved to New Panda, come on guys - thats not really worth a song and dance now is it :p)

It's also not fair to blame any mods for this. We have our own set of internal rules to follow (which were only written recently) so its taking a bit of getting used to. New mods who come in, won't have any experience with "leeway", so will ultimately just follow what is written --- give them a chance to bed in and get a feel for the place please chaps :)

What really doesn't help though is when people post things like "unless this changes, I will leave" or "well that's me out of here" ... that doesn't help matters at all and is somewhat childish... a bit like saying "you do what we want or we're going" - no need for that people, we can work things out in a way which is acceptable to all without a war first.

Anyway, I've gotta be up in 7 hours for a boat party so I'm orf now - nighty night.

I've just had a chance to flick through all this after a very late night at work last night

I hope to read all of the threads later when I've got more time.

 :bang:

Still...Good morning good morning good morning....another exciting day...I'm off to pick up my rally car...(I take it the subject has been delt with and i can throw in something :Offtopic:...Haha!!)

Just remember Charlotte, nothing in here is personally there to offend you etc (y)

To help with keeping things tidy (on the whole Forum, not just CP) I have suggested in Site Ideas that we introduce a seperate 'Build Thread', as opposed to MM (which is for finished cars)

This seems to be in line with other folks' suggestions in this thread.

We're all guilty of Off Topic moments but sometimes this leads to 'thread slippage', which can be annoying. Some of the 'chit-chat' descends into stuff that should really be PM'd. (or at least in LL) - but maybe that's just me; I am a bit of a tidy-freak

Wow. I've just read this thread and have to say it's certainly the most volatile posted for some while. Obviously there have been simmering undercurrents of resentment against the rigid enforcement of the new rules and changes introduced recently. It's just most peoples natural resentment of overt authority being poked into reaction. While reading it I was either nodding in agreement or shaking my head at some of the comments. I've been a little annoyed myself over some of it but have refrained from posting; after all, change is inevitable in all things and we have to get used to it. Things would never progress otherwise. All in all, I feel the mods have a big job to do and, being human, sometimes make the wrong judgement. Fair enough, it's not going to change anyones life, it's just a forum.

I was thinking of the ideas I've had while reading it and was going to post them in the ideas section but it seems the main one I was concerned about, a dedicated build/project sub-forum, has been brought up and seems to be feasible. Personally I'd like to see this happen, it's a great idea. Possibly it could act like the MM section or AW section in that new posts in it could be reflected in a content box to the side of the main forum, newest at the top?

I personally don't agree with updating the MM section with build details as I suspect that, like others, I only venture in there occasionally to see if any comments have been added to my thread by people viewing it. Also, in my case, because there is so great a distance between where I live and where my project is located, the thread would only be updated a couple of times a year or so as I get the time to work on it. This would probably mean it dropping completely off the radar. This is why I have 'traditionally' posted updates in the main Panda Classic section, there having been, in my opinion, no suitable place to put them otherwise. Having said that, I'd have no problem with posting the occasional link in MM to the hopefully soon to be created build/project thread.

Peace everyone, and don't let the b'stards grind you down! (I'm not talking about the mods, please don't hurt me!)

Here's an idea...

isnt a build thread called a blog anyway? https://www.fiatforum.com/blogs

Maybe this is what we're looking for? It's a start, at least. We could link to this from our MM page as &when things happen. That would help with keeping things tidy

Forum blogs hmmm? Never thought of that so I've just had a look in the blog section.

Total blogs = 59

Majority of blogs only have one or two entries and zero replies.

Hardly seems popular with the entire forum, never mind just one small section. Plus, as with Members Motors, it's not section specific and you have to deliberately go looking for them.

When I visit the forum I go straight to the Panda Classic section to see what's new by scanning the first page of threads, because that's where the majority of my interest and interaction with the forum goes on. I stand by the idea of build/project sub-forums because I think Panda stuff should be in the Panda section, Punto stuff in the Punto Section, Stilo stuff in the Stilo section......you get the idea. I'm not knocking the blog idea but I think they should be section specific.

Perhaps a poll is in order?

mm is specific, go to bottom of section select prefix as classic panda, show threads, then only panda ones show up

FYI it was a classic panda member who reported the 2001 panda thread and told the mod it should be in new panda. i wonder if they will come an apoligise for getting it wrong

I saw a 2001 panda thread and reported it, I didn't really pay much attention TBH, as I was tired.

But then the mod should check it before they move it, not move it soundly on the basis of one report?

And I won't apoligise for reporting it (;)), but I will apologise for any needless trouble it caused, but again, the mod should have checked the topic that was reported before moving it.
