best you get busy then am move out all the project an build threads that are already in there
Oh if someone wants a build thread in MM, that's fine. But if they want it in the specific area then I don't see the problem with that either.

Blogs are ideal for build threads, just really hard to integrate into the forum.Really not sure how to get around that, although there must be a way somehow .... :chin:

but if they in mm then they have to stick to ff picture hosting rule, if they start making new threads in car sections, with external hosted pics we could end up with a load of useless pic less threads :(

Fair point - it would mean just enforcing the rules in sections too.

Another thing about build threads in MM though - they wont get lost at all as they will be appearing up the top in the MM bar. Unless there are a billion threads on the go, you'll be fine....

I saw a 2001 panda thread and reported it, I didn't really pay much attention TBH, as I was tired.

mods get tired too, especialy when they still in training. we try an help them as much as we can, but its also a help if people help too by reporting if we mess up.

if we move a thread to wrong section we may never know unless some one reports it, that thread got a lot of replies after the move, but no report, if 1 of them people who posted in it had reported instead it all would have been sorted a week ago

I did post saying for Jai or Stu to move it back. As far as i knew the report button was only to report a post if it was naughty

click it an you will see this message "Note: This will report this post to the moderating team. You can use it to report spam, advertising messages, problematic posts, posts in the wrong section or any other reason which you feel requires moderator attention."

that is because we dont always see every thread in our sections, so we need you to report to help us to help you :)

Batten down the hatches, I've been thinking!

With regard build threads, as others have said, I don't think all projects would suit going into MM. For example the chassis repair work I did, it was a small project that lasted a few weeks. Not exactly a "Build Project" but not a normal technical post either. It also grew into a bigger project than expected and I definitly wouldn't of classed it as a "build" at the start though maybe by the end.

I also have to say i'm not that excited about blogs and based on the poll which shows how stubborn people are at wandering the forum I suspect they wouldn't be that well used.

Would a simple option be to add another prefix on the main section page to go with the other prefixs of
blue.gif
(G) General
red.gif
(T) Technical
gold.gif
(S) Styling
green.gif
(Tu) Tuning

Something like "Build/Mini Projects". Then projects relating to your car could then be linked to the MM page.
That would mean you the project would appear as normal in the forum. But you could also see the project history from the MM page.
Therefore people who just use one section would see the thread but so would those who use the MM section.

What do you think?

Sounds good to me, would allow all the build threads to be filtered aswell so they would be easy to search through in the future.

I still reckon blogs are a good idea though, they would just need to be integrated into the sections like members motors and auction watch is. Not sure if this is possible though.

Yes, blogs are ideal for this very purpose. They allow you to keep things ordered by date, allow comments on single entries (unlike a thread which can get a bit lost after a few pages) and would keep everything in one place.

The issue (as said) is about integration. It's made slightly more tricky in the fact that one blog could be about a number of different models, so not easy to categorise.

A possibility would be that every *entry* in the blog could be tagged to a specific model, this would then allow for automation in showing specific entries in each forum. However this brings in another issue in itself, as where would they be listed? We've pretty much used up all the "bar screen estate" as it is.... :chin:

Does the forum have the option for users to personalise how they see it? I'm not interested in some of the stuff shown down the sides. It would be good if you could have control over what is listed down there to suit your own interests. Or is that just too much to ask?

Or just not look at the ones I'm not interested in. It would be better if we could select which ones we have. Ben mentioned a lack of screen real estate for that kind of thing. That wouldn't be a problem if you could pick and choose. All you'd need down the side is a "personalise this space" option for forum members. Guests just get a generic selection of the most popular. Feasible?
