That wasn't the problem Dave. I'm aware of the time-out feature. The problem came because the forum software recognised that I'd signed in in a different window to the one I was working in. It won't happen again because from now on, I'll just be posting normally.

I'm not arguing about it any more. I'll just carry on as before.

dont know about IE but i usually have at least 3 FF tabs open (in opera)and have no timeouts in any

All right, one last comment.

Not using the "remember me" button isn't usually a problem. You take your time writing a post, click "preview" or "submit" and the forum prompts you to log in again. Your post reappears. No problem.

What happened here is that the forum software recognised that I'd signed in in another window (Groundhog Day anyone?) after I'd signed in to it in the first window and when I clicked "submit" (expecting to be prompted to sign in, as above) to post to the blog it didn't prompt me to sign in again. It said that I'd already previously signed in and that I'd need to press the back button and refresh the page. Of course when I did this I lost everything as I was presented with a blank log entry page.

and again we get the teddy out the pram.honestly all i see in this thread is negativity from many members

Perhaps thats because they're wound up and pissed off. I know I would be if in Ricks possition. It's bad enough that I normally have a 'throw the pc out of the window' moment daily as it is, but 2 hours is a long time for a computer to then say no! Perhaps thats why Rick is being negative?

And as for your comment, all replys and comments have to be Possitive only now then? It's only through members speaking out negativly that people have become aware of just how unhappy alot of us are and after all we're always being advised to give feedback, what the point if we can't be negative when we need to be

*rant over*

yeah but the cant post because logged in in another window error does not seem to be in the forums system :chin:

I can't replicate that at all :( Sorry you lost all that, the only thing I can think of is you spanned over a day? (ie it went past midnight?) as this is when session variables are wiped.

As for bugs in the blogs, there are no show stoppers I know of - the reason I am upgraded them is because the new version allows you to move posts to blog entries, so all current threads can be easily moved across :)

Before the blogs can be updated though the forum needs to be, I might try and get this done tomorrow night (y)

Ok stage one is done - forum software and blogs updated.

This allows all blog entries to have a "global" category now (which of course is the model of car the entry relates to).

Stage 2 is to get it so that when a blog entry is made, a post is also made in the relevant model forum which will automatially redirect to the blog entry when clicked.

I was going to do this today, but I only just woke up - lol.
