General Dell'Orto replacement carb?

Sorry Jaff the screws had either been tightened too much leaving a lip on the end of the screw or the O rings had gone but even after changing them they still didn't work. If I couldn't buy a new carb I would get it reconditioned from a propper carb shop and if it goes wrong then it's their fault.

It's not an item to mess with I've stripped & re-built carbs in the past and they worked perfectly I stripped & rebuilt the carb in the Sisley and it was crap never ran at all :( hense the new one from e-bay, in between times tried all the spare carbs I had took them to a mate and had the co measured & couldn't adjust it in any of them they all ran at about 4% even though the screws seemed fine in two of them

Jaff, I've replied to your pm.

Before you splash out on a new carb...are you certain that your fuel pump is working when you rev up past idle ? I've had three fail, but they worked fine whilst idling.

If you have the steel tank and it has been run low, is the filter in the tank partially blocked with rust ?

Inside the carb, on the rhs (from the front) is a little black plastic, semi-circular cover. Inside this cover, are the pieces conected up ?

I'll keep thinking, but it's really hurting now .........

bummer.. yea the adjustment screw didn't seem to do much on one of the ones I have either but it was difficult to tell as the thing would only run if i had the revs very high...
Might you be willing to sell one of those carbs anyway? You see I can use the good bottom section off my carb and attach it to one of those thus removing the knackered part.

I've tried and tried to find some companies selling refurbs but nope, bets i got was this chap selling the del'orto thingy that turns out to be a kit grr

*sigh* this it getting old

popular problem with the webers is blocked jets and general crud in the works... might be worth splashing out on a good carb cleansing product. new jets can be found I found a few places selling NOS jets for webers. I even have a couple of weber 40's that i have bought in moments of madness that are keeping dust off the bottom of cardboard boxes in the cellar.

however i must echo Alan's sentiments of taking it to a specialists for a tune... there's one near Stockport actually.

... i'll find it in a minute...

bit off topic but it's sooo nice

can't find it... just google for a carb specialist or classic car tuning

Have you checked that the dell kit is not a "complete kit" as in new carb, mounting bolts and gaskets, thottle linkage etc. I'm sure this is how they were marketed in the early 90's (as were replacement webers).

cheers Damon
