get a helper to slowly turn the steering wheel with the engine running (to enable power steering)
with friend moving wheel slowly lock to lock feel the coil spring in the front arches.. (careful not to trap your fingers) if its jumping in time to the noise your strut top mounts have had their day,,,,,,,,,, i'd replace both as the other wont be far behind usually

I noticed in another thread you said, "(i had one done under warranty and in normal mode after the repair it felt like i had city mode on)"
Sometimes my steering feels really light, sometimes it feels a bit heavier. Could this be related or is that just road surfaces, etc..? when I had my shock absorber links done (a couple weeks ago) it felt really smooth right away
