Bravo faults - the BIG list

Bravo 1.8HLX 1998 S reg

Had it 3.5 years - got it with 3K miles after it stood for 18 months when the previous owner gave up driving. Now 30K.
Serviced by Nationwide Autocentres

New battery 3K - due to no use
Cambelt changed by Fiat dealer 24K and five years old - tensioners OK or so they said.......
Throttle cable fell off 26K and on the day we had snow. No fault, it just fell off at throttle pedal:)
Back box fell off 28K
Fuel economy 37MPG on old exhaust and 33MPG on new
Rubbers holding new back box have broken twice - Kwik Fit say "we don't get the ones with canvas in them any more"!
Rear washer pipe has fallen off and rear wiper clicks
Original stereo fades out on the rear speakers if I play it too loud for too long!

52k rear window wiper motor

2001 (51) 100 SX (1.6)

Bought the car with delivery mileage faults so far at 32500 miles:

1. 10,000 miles - grinding into third gear, syncromesh changed (under warranty)

2. 10,000 miles - bumpy ride (very bumpy). Front dampers shot and new ones fitted (under warranty) however I think it was due to the 17 inch wheels I had at he time with their massive weight and rubber band width profile tyres.

3. 7,000 miles - fuel cut off switch broke. Again I think the combination of the 17s and the dampers being shot rattled it to death.

4. 30,000 miles gearbox linkage is starting to wear - second gear selection feels loose and "clunky" for want of a better word.

So really you can discount faults 2 and 3 as they were my doing.

to go with the above post.

Serviced by Fiat - lee and turner dealership (but its not a good thing).

Bravo Faults

JTD GT
2001, almost 3 years old
Bought new
Injector light failed to go out occasionally which resulted in 18 months of to-ing and fro-ing to sort out power loss under warranty. See posting, "Fuel's Paradise".
Squeaking binnacle (surround hitting the glass cover, I can see the wear mark).
Repaired rear washer (6 months old).
Replaced wiper stalk (9 months, FIAT thought the washer motor was just "lazy"). I know.
Replaced controller on front wiper motor (11 months).
New injector (26 months so outside warranty, towing, engine mount and injector €650!)
I have come to the conclusion that the cars are fine but the organisation is rubbish. The mechanics stare intently at the diagnostic laptop but they don't seem to have the mental agility to use the information constructively.

96 Bravo 1.6sx.

Bought 65,000 miles

Done 15,000 miles since. Faulty water pump caused repeated air locking so needed changing. Faulty injector - needed changing. Knocking noise from front of the car when driving in the rain (seems harmless and has been put down to water spashing onto the cat converter).

Recieved excellent advice on all these problems by people in this forum :)
