1.6 Marea sx with Aircon

2001 model year bought 11 months old with 10000 mls.
Windscreen leak fixed under warranty as was the aircon relay.
Since then no problems at all, it does all asked of it averages 37mpg in mixed driving
Seviced by a Fiat specialist as per service schedule.
Set of front pads and front tyres @ 24000mls.
Aircon recharge £60 at last service 36000mls is the only unexpected cost as yet.

since my last post on this thread (February 21)

rear licence plate bulb has died

interior light bulb has died

ohh and something that i forgot to mention on my first post is that the airbag light has been on now since feb 2003 lol i have learned to live with it, infact if i got it fixed i would miss the little fella :(

2001 Y plate Brava 80SX (3 years old on july 31)
Had the car since April

Only one fault really so far, Got an intermitent problem with the rear window washer, IT sometimes will not spray, wiper works fine, but no spray comes out.
Pipes been fixed already and glued into place and hasnt come loose.

57k - 50k when bought 9 months ago

new gearbox and clutch at 55k
new powerflow backbox at 54k - old one rotton
brakes discs and pads just replaced
cambelt at 56k

ticking rely and injector - still not done

Since my previous post my rear wiper motor had died and the mileage is now upto 99k

D'oh! Another one to add. Just realised that my drivers side wiper arm has fractured by the spring. :( No wonder the wiper squeaks and judders so much.

Ho hum, off to Fiat we go.

When each fault happened -

got a strange rattling noise coming from gear box or clutch. when i drop the clutch the noise stops im still confussed on this 1.

ive had 2 front left shocks and 1 right shock repalced under warrenty.

had rust in the doors on the hinges, fiat repaired free of charge.

has a problem starting most probably the sparks need changing and ht leads needed.

rear wiper washer hose came off.

slow windows. (can u tune this nige)

Another fault to add. 1.6 P reg. Clutch slave cylinder perished (symptoms were - loss of 'springiness' in clutch pedal and loss of break fluid). £85 to replace at garage.
 
Back to the top, we have some new owners around so lets hear their probs.

To add to my list of issues I've just changed the front lower arms for the second time and replaced all the ARB bushes. Car has 82k on the clock.

Rear susp arms need new pivots and I think a front wheel bearing is giving up.

1997 bravo HGT 2.0 147BHP.

im the 4th owner , had the car for 2 years and a bit. car has 99km.

ongoing aircon problems, rear brake pump failed at 97km.

thats preety much it.. [knock on wood]...
 
After filling up with petrol today, my dashboard went tits up. Fortunately some percussive maintence(is that spelt right?) near to the fuse box sorted everything out.

Oh, and the drivers heated seat hasn't worked since I bought it.

Didn't post earlier in the year as the car seemed ok..... how much things change in a few months!!

Feb 2004 - Drives seat doesn't pull forward to allow people to sit in the back
April 2004 - New coil pack needed £250
August 2004 - Spark Plugs gapped incorrectly - £80 Fiat rip off!
August 2004 - New hub for front right wheel - £85, although this was mainly my fault
September 4th 2004 - New exhaust as hole in the middle area - £120
September 7th 2004 - Scart Leads faulty - £116.


Also to add to this my handbrake needs tightening every 6 months (this might be normal) and the boot lock is always coming loose.

Now i ve got a leaking shock absorber!

Rear Shocks changed at 9k
Driver's window motor replaced at 24k
passenger's window - motor and runner guide lubed up three times 5k, 12k & 22k given up still slow
Clutch replaced at 20k - thrust bearing
Replaced at 50k
Speedo sensor replaced at 11k & 50k
Exhaust Rear section replaced at 5k
Rear Driver's side Wheel bearing replaced at 12k
Clutch Slave cylinder 30k
2 x Lamda sensors 9k & 12k
Crankshaft position sensor 34k
4 sets of bonnet jets - always get blocked trying to unblock them ruins the spray pattern
3 replacement batteries first two between 12k and 25k
Cambelt tensioner replaced at 24k
3 cambelts
Front disks and pads @ 36k & 55k

...and the obligatory insulation tape "fix" on the rear seat

Are these lists going to make their way to FIAT?

If there is one thing I would change, it's the dealers. Don't seem to know enough about their products, scary thing is they service Alfa's as well.

I don't want those monkeys anywhere near my belissima Alfa.

Owned from new. 1st service at Sunwin Fiat Bradford, then serviced annually by me.

Seems like from new but cant remember-painfully slow passenger window-will sort very soon!
6K Airbag light on-reset by Fiat under warranty
9k Rear washer stops working-3 months later pipe was refitted by me
20k Spun its diff-sorted by gearbox guru mate-welded rather than pressed into place
25k Airbag light on again-and is still on-not fixed yet-will get round to it
25k onwards bonnet opening is 2-man job-due to rusty catch-freed up by me ok now
35k Rear wiper packs in altogether-6 months later replaced it with a used Brava one-done by me.
40k Exhaust replaced from cat back (not inc cat)
50k replacement clutch
50k starter motor solenoid not engaging removed by me and repaired at autoelectricians-fine now
51k replacement clutch slave cylinder
53k Exhaust front pipe replaced done by me cos kwik fit etc were ridiculous

Going to need cam belt and tensioner etc replacement any time soon.

Fcuking money pit :(

to add to mine:
Angeltuned 1.2sx 2000 V reg 24k on the clock

23k-Shock leaking/trailing arms knackered on both rear sides.
23k-rear wiper motor slowed to a halt and seized in the shaft, fixed by stripping it down rubbing off the rust and regreasing.
24k-near terminal clutch failure :(
soon... Clutch and cambelt and all the trimmings change. and after only 24k :( piece of s**t :(

39k missfire, power issues(improved by service various advice)
40k Plugs
41k leads
41k Airbag light
42k Driver side link bushes
43k Pads/handbrake adjusted
45k Rear window wiper
47k bad handling(possible shocks need replacing not done yet, wheels badly dented since taken off standard alloys improved ride)
49k Power steering pipe leaking, welded.
50k Power steering pipe replaced
52k Driver seat worn/ripped.
52k Driver side Electric window (intermitant)

Sure to have forgot something, like bravos but not made of money, undecided to if ill buy another!
 
Bravo 1.6 '98 - currently 91500 miles - bought 7 months ago , 3rd owner

Previous owner had rear shocks replaced ( leaking ) at 58000 mile

Drivers seat frame snapped somewhere and was welded at 60000 miles

Bought the car at 78000 miles and have fixed the following

Rear wiper motor dead ( scrapper £30 )

rev counter i/m , bad connection on dash

radio aerial replaced as old one fell over/ recieved nothing

front wiper arms/blades all replaced as rotten

Car has been serviced by non-fiat garage by prev owner and also by myself , no engine/gearbox issues at all in the service history ! .
