My car is slow to brake. Has anyone else got complaints? Is this a 500 thing?
which model do you have? i find the TA 85 underbraked in comparison with the 1.4My car is slow to brake. Has anyone else got complaints? Is this a 500 thing?
really? i found the ta 85 brakes to be not good enough. No complaints from this user. I've slammed on our brakes really hard on a couple of occasions causing the ABS to kick in (yes, the juddery pedal thing!) and the car stopped just fine. Ours is a TA85.
How old is your car? Brake fluid been changed at all? Pads on the front ok?
oh dear my condolences I hope you are ok. Did the car slide at all or were the brakes not powerful enough. /QUOTE]
The car didn't slide at all.

still the 1.4 has much better braking performance = )Yes ahmett, really! Believe it or not, many of us don't drive around small towns in the middle of England like we're clearing out every Euro that might be left in Athens and then doing a runner! The Lounge TA85 isn't a sports car, it's a small city car that doesn't require 6 pot stoppers!
hope you both get ok soon. Thanks ahmett and Frupi. No ABS kicking in unfortunately. 3 year old car with shiny new MOT. The car has front and rear damage but could be much worse. My mother somehow hurt her leg and is also in the hospital. I've driven big cars for years because I feel so vulnerable in a tiddler!

I'm very sorry to hear of this, I didn't realise you'd actually had an accident
I hope first and foremost your Mother gets well soon and secondly, that the damage to the car is easily repairable.
To be fair, the ABS will only kick in if you absolutely stamp on the brakes. I err, do it quite often in the Saab lol!
Thanks. I kinda did stamp on the brakes. You know, about to crash.... Not the time to flirt with the damn pedal ?
Trust me, you'll know if the ABS has kicked in, you'll get a very noticeable judder on the brake pedal as the car comes to a halt Clearly I have no idea about what distances there were between you and the car in front and the car at the rear. Even if you reacted quickly, if you were all quite close together in the first instance, the car may have appeared to be slow at stopping purely because of how quickly everything happened. Hope that doesn't sound double dutch
I'm sure you have an understanding of how ABS works, but for anyone that doesn't, please see the link:

I've got a 1.2S and the brakes are shockingly poor. I'm no light weight but the odd time when I've felt the need to stop quickly you really have to stand on the brakes. The abs hardly kicks in and next to nothing happens.
Not impressed. I had thought of posting a question about different pads which may have a little more bite than the fiat standard fitment.
Our 500TA is very sharp in braking. My car is slow to brake. Has anyone else got complaints? Is this a 500 thing?
