Blue & Me - Tech Info and questions and answers

Hi all,
it looks like I have found a simple solution to the issue of tracks playing in alphabetical order rather than in the correct track order.

I did some testing and found out that Blue & Me does not like the ID3 version 2.2 tags. I am using iTunes and within iTunes I converted the ID3 tags from version 2.2 to version 2.3 and this fixed the issue. However sometimes iTunes reported the tags as being v2.3, but the tracks would play in alphabetical order: I converted the tags to v2.2 and then to v2.3 again and this solved the issue.

To perform the conversion, within iTunes select the tracks that you want to change, right-click and choose "Convert ID3 tags". You can use any good ID3 tag editor instead of iTunes, if it allows you to change the tag version.

Please test this solution and provide feedback ...

Cheers

Help needed, my nokia95 works fine with blue&me, (calls) until I use the sat nav, then no sound comes from the phone, also if I play music on my phone the sound stops as soon as blue&me recognizes the phone, then as I walk away from the car, sound comes back from my phone.

I had a similar issue which I solved by ensuring that the tag for the total number of tracks on an album is filled in - ie. in the track number section for track one on a ten track album you should have "1 / 10". The section I've bold underlined wasn't filled in on some of my albums and seemed to be causing the problem.

I took mine into a dealer today because My bluetooth is showing the "no english" error and I can't access the menus, etc. After keeping it all day, they say they need to order a part - a conversion kit - and can't fix the Blue&me unitil it arrives. This all stemmed from when I had a flat battery (I think). Dealer being daft?

Last time I posted, the dealer fixed my Blue&Me system with a new part.

All was going well unitl now... I can't skip tracks using the media player and can't connect my phone :(

Basically, none of the steeering wheel buttons work. It plays MP3s from my USB stick, but I'm unable to skip tracks, etc.

The buttons still light up, but it's as if the data cable is disconnected or something. Anyone else experienced this?

Back to the dealer again over xmas methinks! Still under warranty

Dear all
Have recently bought a Fiat 500 with Blue & Me.
The pairing with my mobile phone was initially fine and the phone worked well via Bluetooth. The phone was a Sony Ericsson W760.

Then I made a big mistake and put the phone in the washing machine ! So, get a new phone, same model again but this time the Blue & Me doesn't work properly.
It will pair ok, but will often drop the bluetooth connection to the phone and on the odd occasion that I am able to make a call I get terrible interference on the line, a kind of repetative mechanical 'clacking' noise.
It's a similar kind of sound to the interference you get on a car radio in a car whose engine electrical system isn't supressed.
Could it be that there is such a thing on the Blue & Me system that has stopped working ?

Now, my wife has just got a new phone, a Sony Ericsson C902 and this has exactly the same problem which leads me to believe that it is not an issue with the phones but with B&M itself.

Or, perhaps both phones have the same software which is now at a higher version than the original W760 that I had, and this higher version is no longer compatible with B&M ?

Would anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this ?
I'm really quite disappointed as I loved this facility on my new car and am missing it terribly.

Any technical experts from Fiat out there ?

Thanks very much

I've got a C902 (second one now, the first was worse than useless but that's another story) and this will not pair up with the Blue & Me in my 500 or Ducato.

Have you spoken with your dealer about this problem? I keep meaning to go in but haven't yet found the time.

Does anyone know about this?

See question above. Basically the newest Sony Ericsson phones (or the latest software at least) are not compatible with the Blue & Me system. Blue & Me needs it's software updating in order to cope with these more 'advanced' phones. Which of course will probably never happen.

Rubbish, isn't it ?

Have spoken to both Sony Ericsson and my local Fiat dealer about this. Neither have plans that they aware of to offer an upgrade to either the SE phone software or the Blue & Me software to enable compatability of these new 'advanced' phones with B&M.
Great.
The more I think about this, the more angry it makes me. As time goes by, as people upgrade their phones, less and less of them will be compatible with the current Blue&Me system until eventually nobody will be able to use it at all.
This is a bit of a rip-off given what Blue&Me costs, it will be effectively useless as a Blutooth device in pretty short order.
Hurrumph !

This solved it for me (using iTunes), thank you!

Now, if only Blue & Me would play nice with my Nokia 6220 Classic...

Great.

I wouldnt pay too much attention to what your dealer says about blue and me. Yes they know a bit but as always with fiat they always seem to let the dealers be last to know about anything they are doing. It might be worth you contacting Fiat UK direct as they will know more about it than your local dealer and they will most likely be able to advise you with your problem and tell you if any updates are expected out.

Hi,

I am looking at a used Grande Punto for my next car, and will probably be opting for an 06 or 56 plate. I saw on the Fiat site that Blue and Me was included in all Grande Punto versions, but is it included in versions as old as this, or is an 06 car too dated? If so what reg plate will I need to get to have the featured?

Cheers

B

If its a sporting it will have it. Blue and me is only standard on all grandes from series 2(58 plate) onwards i believe. Before this sportings (maybe eleganza) are the only model(s) to have it fitted as standard.

Ahhhh OK. It's only a second car and found a few knocking about for around £4K so been taking a look at those and thought it would be a nice feature! Cheers

Have either of you read through the c902 thread in the blue&me section?

https://www.fiatforum.com/blue-me/168561-sony-ericsson-902-a.html

Basically the issue is with the latest firmware, SE can't downgrade you using their update software but using the cable which comes with your phone, and £10 via paypal you can downgrade to a compatible older firmware.

Has any body solved the problem of playing an ipod on Blue tooth. Plugging it in to the USB only gets MP3 files and only in shuffle ,it is most annoying. I bought a Blue tooth transmitter but unfortunately the car askes for a pin number and of course the ipod will not do that .Since Fiat did not think it necessary to put in a auxillary port I guess i my have to go back to an FM transmitter . Any thoughts
Peter

Hello Folks,

As this a brand new innovative feature which seems to not have too much online support. Thought it might be a good idea to have a thread containing links/attachments to any documentation or files you all find on the net relating to Blue & Me.
A One stop shop etc..

Please post em up!

We're trying to use a phone, the Fiat Navigator and EcoDrive in a Fiat 500. When Ecodrive is activated, the phone doesn't respond to Blue & Me pairing. And now the Navigator (not an OE fitment) voice instructions don't work, amongst other problems. We get very little help from the dealer in Tunbridge Wells, who din't know anything about EcoDrive, or Blue & me come to that. Anyone else getting these problmes?

Bluetooth C905

HI Guys. Does anyone know if the bluetooth phone function of the Blue and Me can be switched off? I have a Sony Ericsson C905 and have read about all the problems this phone gives with B&M. I have a sat nav with bluetooth and have tried to use it through that but the phone freezes. If I can turn B&M off it without disturbing any other function it will be great. :bang:

Hi Danchak,

I'd be interested to know exactly how compatible or incompatible your Nokia 6220 is with Blue&Me as I'm due for an upgrade and like the look of the 6220.

press the button and straight away say "loop off"

I must sa thank you to you Hellcat. I am new to B&M and I was nearly crashing my car with frustration at the same songs playing over and over and over and...

The I read your post about 'loop off' and sanity has been restored!

A big big THANK YOU

Alan
