Blue & Me - Tech Info and questions and answers

I have had my Grande Punto from new for 2 months. I am having real Blue and Me issues.
1) I dont think an LG Viewty is compatible with the system as it wont let me copy my contacts. Does anyone know if that is right pls?
2) My media player seems to play the same track over and over again unless I use the sterring wheel control to change tracks or the voice control. I have tried everything but cannot get it to play normally.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: NOKIA 6111

Hi Butler,
I have a nokia 6111 as well but when i get into blue tooth it recognises blueme but asks for a 4 digit code. What is this code, or how can you find it?
Thanks

I have an Ipod which is 3rd generation. I use my usb/mains connection to plug it into blue and me usb port. It recognises it and starts playing whilst uploading my library but after about 45 mins the Ipod battery is flat. I use the same cable connected to the plug to charge my Ipod on mains power without any problem.
Has anyone else had the same problem? I can't decide if its a USB charging problem, a cable problem or my Ipod battery, although the last seems unlikely as I recently got 4 hours charge from it with an ITrip FM tuner.

I know it's silly to mention, but you haven't got 'loop' switched on have you? I think you can voice control it with "loop on/off"

Maybe this has already been covered and I did search but couldn't find an answer.... Where in the world is the microphone for the Blue & Me system? It's all well me shouting at my car when people can't hear me, but surely if I knew where the microphone was, I could whisper sweet nothings in to it and be heard loud and clear!

I'm not 100%, but i'm fairly confident it's in between the lights on the roof/ceiling of the car.

Love the blue&me system - got a SE k810i - works a dream - fitting the text message reader was so easy with this phone. The whole thing, answering, making calls, the texts, the music USB thing - amazing.

I'm highly appreciative of the actual system and the help i've got from this board - my only question is, is it possible to see the names of the person texting? I'll admit right now to not reading all the pages on this thread, but if someone could clarify this for me...

Oh, BTW, interestingly, my newer, 5th generation ipod wasn't recognised by Blue&Me - maybe this needs 5 goes (or whatever) too, or the newer ones just don't work with it?

Is your iPod formatted for a Mac? There are loads of posts about iPods and Blue&Me on alfaowner but the long and short of it is that you have to put the iPod into hard disk mode (or something) before it will be recognised. I think iPods sync'd on Windows machines are OK 'out of the box'

 <--That's an Alfa wave by the way ;)

Whoops! Just noticed how long ago that was posted. Sorry for resurrecting an old post!

Hi Matty

I spent 4 nights converting all my tracks last week:bang:. I found the quickest way to do it was one album at a time. First I right-clicked on the opening track to "Get Info". As long as it doesn't show as protected AAC you can convert it so highlight opening track and then hit shift and arrow down to highlight whole album. Right click to "convert to mp3". Both formats will now be on I Tunes but all the AAC tracks will be highlighted blue after the conversion completes. Right click and click delete otherwise you will run out of memory keeping both formats. It will ask you a question - tick the box to say don't ask me this again. It then gives you the option of moving the deleted aac files to the recycle bin. Once you have re formatted all the albums you want to sync the ipod with your computer and all the tracks will convert on your Ipod.

I did mine the long-winded way but apparently there are software programs you can download. I just hope you didn't buy all your music from Itunes as its copy protected and can't be converted.

Thanks a million for that - Unfortunately I have followed your instructions but only get option to 'convert selection to AAC' whatever that means - I do not get an option to convert to MP3.

But many thanks anyway - looks like I might have to get in an IT bod to sort it all out.

Cheers
Matti

To convert a USB-drive with music files for use with Blue & Me I wrote a small Windows program: BluMeUSB.

BluMeUSB.gif

It converts "tags" in MP3 files so that Artist, Title, Album etc. are displayed correctly.
(It converts APE Tags and ID3v2 tags to ID3v1 tags and to the Blue & Me character set).
After you have done this, "random play" works correctly, no files are skipped and the Title, Artist and Album are displayed correctly.
If you choose to do so, all files EXCEPT .mp3,.wma,.wav, .m3u,.wpl and the EcoDrive files are deleted from your USB drive.
Go to http://www.spoelstrait.nl/BluMeUSB for download & more information.

Re: Blue&Me - italian language!

Your dealer can fix it or you can do it yourself using the USB port. Just go to the BlueandMe part of the official Fiat site. You'll see there can you can download .zip files for a bunch of languages. Pick your favourite, download it, unzip it, put it on your stick and stick it in your USB port. The nice lady will, at the end of this say "Update Complete" like a London Librarian who is always slightly annoyed.

hi my n95 does not connect correct so i am upgrading. i am wondering if a phone runs windows will it definetly work with b&m

Phones running either Windows Mobile Pro or Standard OS will work nicely with Blue&Me, except the SMS reader.

Surely this is a contradiction in terms as the message reader is a major selling point of the Blue&Me system, so, as stated many times probably the most overall compatable phones are the Sony Ericsson.

id agree, my SE w880 worked brilliant with all aspects of b&m, but i upgraded to samsung tocco and works ok except txt message reader doesnt work with it. i've also got a nokia 6021 (my work phone) but the txt message reader is a bit tempramental, sometimes reads them, sometimes doesn't. (it seems to be if i've a missed call i havent checked and i receive a txt it doesnt seem to pick it up.)
